Imagine; the tree was a mere seedling when King Solomn built his temple in Jerusalem, a sapling when Christ was born. The General generates enough wood each year to produce a 60-foot tall tree of average size. Dozens of giant sequoia are neighbors to the General; the half-mile downhill trail into the Giant Forest offers access to the General and all the beautiful and hardy creatures. Just be aware returning to the parking lot requires a gentle, uphill walk. It was certainly worth the trip. This is a modest motel in Lone Pine that is acceptably clean. there are not a lot of choices when staying in Loan Pine, and I picked this one because it had a microwave, a refrigerator, and a bathtub. The heating worked well, but the fan is very loud.

Great place in Lone Pine if hiking Whitney

Overall, this place was a great base camp for my day hike up Mt Whitney. The service was excellent, the room was exactly as expected for the money and even had a fridge, and it was close to restaurants/groceries. Highly recommend for someone looking for a well priced room prior to anything in the Whitney Portal!

Great value

Although there was a slight language barrier, all of the information needed, was given quickly and easily found. It’s not a fancy room, but very comfortable and spacious room. I particularly like that all the rooms are on ground floor, with a parking space right in front of the door.

Had a great stay. Booked two nights with a day hike up Mt. Whitney in between. We were SO grateful to have a place to shower and sleep before and after the journey. The staff was kind and helpful. Especially enjoyed the mountain views and easy access to shops and groceries.

5 stars on the service and 5 stars on the value

We arrived at 4am, and the Hotel front desk treated us as he has agreed on the phone and message: woke up with a big smile and welcomed us to check in. He even rejected our tips for this. The room is specious and bed is comfortable. Things are clean. It has refrige and microwave. We did not expect more than this. 5 stars on the service and 5 stars on the value. It feels good to stay with them. We will book again on this property if we come again!

Clean budget motel walking distance to everything.

This was your basic budget roadside motel. It was clean and I slept well. It was quiet. Easy check in and check out. Room is outdated but it had 3 big beds which was amazing.
