Historic Osborne House very close to the beach

A magnificent 300-year-old Cornish townhouse which, in the 1800s, was originally the home of a wealthy merchant. During the last century, it was a sweet shop and more recently a thriving restaurant. Today it is a fully restored family home, retaining many original features including wooden beams - one of which is reputed to have come from the defeated Spanish Armada. The house sleeps up to 12 people in three doubles (all en-suite), a twin room and a bunk room that includes a pair of bunk beds.

Osborne House is a very spacious family home which comfortably sleeps 12 in 5 bedrooms. Crafted from local slate and stone the house retains many original features including wooden beams (one of which is reputed to have come from the defeated Spanish Armada), decorative encaustic floor tiles and traditional windows including a stained glass panel and original wooden sash windows. The house is perfect for all seasons and the open-plan design is ideal for getting together with family and friends. With quality furniture and soft furnishings throughout, guests will appreciate the attention to detail. While there’s no outside space or garden, the beach is very close and less than a minute away on foot. The house is normally let from Saturday to Saturday during the peak season but we offer long weekend breaks during other times. The house is a no-smoking property and we regret that we can't take pets, service or emotional support animals. Wifi internet access is available.

Joining instructions are usually sent out 2 - 3 weeks before arrival. Guests can normally access the house from 5.00 pm on the first day, although we will our best to get you in well before this. We ask that your accommodation be vacated by 9.00 am on the day of departure. Unfortunately, our cleaning company dictates these times, although we will do our very best to extend these.

The caretaker is available for any maintenance needs during your stay.

The house is set in the heart of East Looe - ideally situated yards from the sandy beach, historic harbour, cafes and restaurants. This coastal location in South-East Cornwall is in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is a perfect retreat for anyone looking to escape from the urban hustle & bustle. The house sleeps up to 12 and is ideal for family holidays, birthday parties, groups or reunions.

This coastal location in South-East Cornwall is in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is a perfect escape from the urban hustle & bustle. Looe itself is divided by the river and the old town has a maze of alleyways and back streets to explore as well as the banjo pier and sandy beach. Looe has all sorts of galleries and shops and there are numerous restaurants, pubs and cafes too. The harbour is the perfect place to watch the world go by and Looe is a thriving fishing town. Further afield, explore the picturesque village of Polperro whose tiny harbour was once a hub for brandy and tobacco smuggling. Or take a walk along the coastal path and enjoy the spectacular Cornish scenery. Looe is a great base from which to explore Cornwall and nearby you will find the Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Restormel Castle.

The house has the benefit of allocated parking for two cars (one space is in the Beachside carpark at the end of the street, the other is an allocated space in the Millpool carpark which is 7 - 8 minutes away on foot). Guests are welcome to drive into Lower Chapel Street, just a few yards from the entrance, to unload and load etc.

A really great cottage

We really enjoyed our stay in Osbourne house, both the property itself and the location, right in the middle of everything and a stones throw from the water, were perfect for our family group. The house itself was excellent, everything we needed and all the rooms a good size with plenty of bathrooms. All round very good

Great location in a lovely property .

Birthday celebrations for my mother weremade really enjoyable at osbourne house in east Looe. Fantastic place to visit The property was great, clean and plenty of utensils etc . Fantastic spot just a minute from the beach. We were there the weekend of the raft race which was great fun and made perfect with fabulous weather . The only downfall was the noisy seagulls but there were lots of baby chicks around so we really didn’t mind as they are lovely to watch. Highly recommend a stay here .

Gorgeous Cottage in the heart of Looe - very well equipped

Osborne House was brilliant - every possible utensil you might need, from pasta strainers to children's crockery there was nothing that we wished we 'd had. Lots of space and plenty of room for our daughter to perfect her walking. Very clean and well maintained with a laundry refresh half way through our fortnight's stay. I'd highly recommend staying there - very comfortable and of course, perfectly located.

Brilliant house and perfect holiday base

We were a group staying for the Looe Music Festival and this house was the perfect base: two minutes to the beach and its two stages and less than five minutes to the harbour-side stages. Everything else was close-by too including the towns finest pubs (Fisherman's Arms was a favourite). The house was very spacious - especially on the ground floor with an amazing kitchen and dining room. The bedrooms were very comfortable and everything clean and well maintained. We loved Daisy's café and Catch was great for fish and chips. Highly recommended.

Wonderful large historic house in a fantastic location with the beach at the end of the street!

There were twelve of us and still it didn't feel like we were on top of each other: laid over three floors with four bathrooms. there was plenty of space for everyone. We loved the large dining room and kitchen and had some fab times preparing and eating meals all sat around the large farmhouse table. Beds were very comfortable and the whole house very tastefully furnished. We been to Looe a couple of times and the town and its wonderful beach never disappoint. Lots to do for the whole family and some lovely coastal walks on the doorstep. We had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday and can't wait to return.

Osborne house, we love you and Looe!

We travelled as a family of 10 spanning all ages and everyone adored this house and the town of Looe. Perfect for our family in every way. The living spaces, the bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, location, cleanliness, character, etc etc were all magnificent. My mother and aunt felt it was their ancestral home. We were all sad to leave, but our memories will last a lifetime and for that I am eternally grateful. The town of Looe also exceeded our expectations. My daughter would like to live there. It was her dream town. Thank you so much!

Early Summer stay

Osborne House is a grade 2 listed property with charm and did not disappoint. Location for beach and town is superb, with secure parking in the Beach carpark (2 minutes away). Ideal for families with Children - we were a party of 7 adults and 4 children (2yrs - 6yrs). All household amenities were good, however I would suggest a tumble dryer would be a must to compliment the washing machine. The clothes dryer just did not work for drying. Otherwise would highly recommend.

Great location: friends reunion in a brilliant house

We were a group of 10 old school friends having a small reunion and simply loved this house and its location in East Looe's old town. The kitchen was very well equipped and we spend most of our time sat around the wonderful dining table.....and playing table football (such fun). The bedrooms were comfortable and bathrooms a plenty with quality bed linen and towels. In the town we enjoyed the many local cafes, restaurants and pubs. Daisy's cafe was a favourite and Sunday lunch in the Smugglers Cott was fabulous (traditional roast carvery style with very generous portions). We also spent fund evenings in The Salutation pub and Ship Inn - to name a couple. For a small town there seemed to be plenty of live music too. A special thank you to James who ensured a smooth booking experience and to Dilly for meeting and greeting us on arrival. No hesitation in recommending Osborne House - and we've already booked for next year.

Brilliantly located - best house we've stayed in.

Just as it says on the tin - East Looe's finest listed house was a pretty accurate description. We were greeted by Dilly who showed us around and helped us park too. The house is light and spacious with a well thought out nautical theme throughout. Its arranged over three floors providing very comfortable accommodation for 12. Three en-suites and family bathroom meant no queues for loos of showers. Quality cotton bed linen and mattresses meant we all slept well (even with the seagulls) and a fabulous lounge, kitchen and dining area provided the wow-factor. It was our first time in Looe and what a real gem this town is. More charm than Padstow without the silly prices. Every restaurant and cafe we visited was child friendly with lots of quality choice, The Plough on the Quay is well worth a visit along with the Old Sail Loft and Daisy's. We loved the Saluation and Harbour Moon - all fairly close to the house. In summary, a great house in a great location. Highly recommended.

Wonderful Christmas and New Year

We had a marvellous Christmas and New Year at Osbourne House: We checked in at 1pm on Christmas Eve and it was perfect from then on. Cooked our Christmas Dinner on the superb range and there was plenty of crockery and utensils for our large family. House was beautiful and warm and everything was extremely clean: Osbourne is a superb period property and felt so happy to be able to spend Christmas with the family in such a beautiful place

Perfect location for group stay

Great base for a group stay, there was 11 of us and there was enough space for us all. Osborne House is the perfect location to access the beach and town. It was super clean and full of character. We walked the coastal path to Polperro, went mackerel fishing and spent the evenings swimming in the sea and had beach bbqs. Looe is not easy driving for large cars though and watch out for noisy, vicious seagulls!

Lovely well placed cottage

We stayed here as we were attending a wedding in St Neots. Cottage was large and very well equipped....we were 6 adults and 6 children. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and spent time in the town and on the beach post wedding. Some of our extended family joined us for dinner on the Friday and the cottage was more than suitable for the extra guests. Would stay again as location is superb... James was most accommodating and we were able to get into cottage a little earlier which made life easier with the younger children

Good Location - Ruined By Awful Condition!

Overall - dirty and very badly maintained. 1 Filthy doormat - falling apart. 2 Toaster had a broken handle - unsafe to use. 3 Wood skirting - almost a dozen loose bits and pieces. 4 Family Bathroom - shower leaks through kitchen ceiling. 5 Master bedroom:- bathroom door poor fit and very dirty, shower tray dirty, paintwork peeling, unfinished beneath sink, o/s window cill rotting, no lock on bathroom door. 6 Double room - shower tray dirty 7 First Mates Room:- door does not close nor lock - no privacy! metal window/door was rusty and disgustingly filthy! 8 Top bedroom shower very dirty and needed a thorough clean. THIS WAS OUR FAMILY HOLDAY TREAT - SPOILED! We have reported the condition of this house to the Looe Tourist Board, so disappointed were we with it's condition.

Wonderful house in great location close to beach

Super house ideal for multi generation family holidays. Very nicely decorated with a nautical theme throughout, the house is spacious, comfortably sleeps 12 and benefits from four toilets/bathrooms. Location couldn't have been better with the beach and harbour just a stone's throw away. A big thanks to James and team for the smooth booking process and clear joining instructions, and we'd love to return.

House with the wow factor - we loved every minute

We loved Osborne House - fabulous house in the heart of the town that really had the wow factor. Very spacious (arranged over three floors and three en-suite double rooms), clean and well equipped we never felt on top of each other. We had some wonderful evenings sat around the large dining room table (with two pews) and equally enjoyable evenings sat in the comfortable living room. The bedrooms were all very well furnished and very comfortable - this really was a fantastic holiday house. Looe itself is very charming with some lovely eateries (The Smugglers, Old Sail Loft, Plough on The Quay to name a few) we really didn't want to leave.....but we will be back and look forward to staying at Osborne House again!

A beautiful house full of character and fully equipped

Beautiful house. Very central with a great choice of eateries within a short walk. However, if you decide to stay in, you could not want for more as the kitchen is fully equipped. The huge dining table is great for dining but also for playing board games and the like. Great for groups of friends and families alike.
