8/10
The reviews were mixed for this property, but I was really pleasantly surprised and would recommend it to any friends traveling to LA. I stayed here for almost two weeks on a work trip. The hotel itself was centrally located, with many restaurants and shopping just a quick walk or drive away. The staff were nice and helpful with good recommendations when asked. It was on a street that I felt comfortable walking on in the evenings after parking in the garage next door. Yes - the garage is not 'associated' with the hotel, but it's literally like 15 steps away and the attendants were helpful. I did not feel unsafe in the garage (although the elevators were a little questionable). $30 overnight parking - $40 a day for in and out. I had two great meals on the rooftop of the hotel and their tiki-themed drinks were fun.
The room itself was a bit small and basic with kooky decorations. For one person - the size was sufficient. It would have been a bit uncomfortable if traveling with friends. The bathroom only has a slide door separating it from the bed area. The shower was fantastic!
My biggest complaint was the unclear resort fee (what does that go to?) and that the room did not have a mini fridge or coffee maker. For two weeks that was nearly a deal breaker. If I could have borrowed a fridge from the front desk as I had an extended stay and could have kept some small food supplies or leftovers - that would have upped my review to a 5.
