"We had a lovely one night stay at Ferncliff, it was just lovely and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend as a very well run ‘b&b’ type hotel but much more luxurious. Bernard in particular was fantastic, especially his cooking — we had both dinner and breakfast there. Very glad we chose this over the ‘grand hotel’ in the end. "

The road from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya is full of turns, deceptively long and passes some of the largest tea plantations in the world. Truth be told, driving anywhere in the hill country of Sri Lanka is an exercise in patience given that even short distances can take hours due to slow moving traffic, poor weather or less than desirable roads. Better then to sit back and enjoy the ride while stopping for the occasional picture. (as we did for this cloudy sunset)
