This was by far our best experience while in India, this place is so beautiful. This is a money cant buy experience, we will forever have these great memories from staying here.
The host was mostly on his phone and did not seem interested in talking to us. When I told his wife that my partner and I were unmarried she gave a mean look that made me feel uncomfortable and like she was judging us without understanding the culture we come from. Besides the meals offered, nothing else was offered to really make it an authentic homestay which gives the whole experience the feeling of a very over-priced hotel. We ended up just sitting in our hut most of the time trying to use the WiFi which barely functioned. And on top of all of this the food made both of us sick with diarrhea, stomach cramps, and shivers. My partner also had a headache which could be unrelated but the food was definitely the cause of my sickness because I had diarrhea a few hours after each time we ate. The food tasted delicious but I regret eating it due to the sickness after.
I would definitely not recommend this “homestay” to anyone because it is not an authentic homestay. We’ve both done homestays in Peru and Thailand and have never encountered this type of dishonesty like we have here. We were the only ones staying at the time so maybe they just didn’t care but the only cultural exchange besides the overpriced meals that we got was when he briefly showed us weaving techniques but then it was soiled when he tried to pressure us into buying the rugs and what not. I don’t really know what else to say but I just hope anyone reading this will choose somewhere more honest.
This was our best experience in two weeks traveling. There is no proper A.C. so you might want to sleep outside like the family does. We played with the kids and cooked some bread over the fire. Dinner is the whole family sitting on rugs outside eating great farm food. We rode out to see antelope, flamingos, and a random monkey. Then we tried pottery the old fashioned way. We hiked to watch the sun set. This is a really nice family and a chance to see how people actually live, but if you like cushy hotels it may not be your thing. Great conversation with sons.
If you're looking for a place to stay in Jodhpur - think again and stay here instead. Our experience at this homestay was the absolute highlight of our trip. You cannot find a nicer family, and they make the guests feel part of the community! We were able to travel to Jodhpur during the day for a visit, and spend more time at the homestay in the evening.

Prajapati's are great hosts! The place is out of the city, about an hour from Mehrangarh Fort, but our two night stay there was totally worth it. A perfect home stay, you almost live like the Prajapati family. The village safari was also very nice, we got to learn a lot from
Staying with Chhotaram and his family was a phenomenal experience. We were able to cook, play, eat, dress, and laugh in such an authentic setting. You truly are welcomed and treated as part of the family. While we were only able to stay for a single night, it was the most fulfilling experience we could have imagined - a village safari, desert sunset, amazing food and company. For anyone looking for an unforgettable time in India, this should be your first choice!
We are so glad to have found this place through Tripadvisor! The perfect village/indian homestay experience we were looking for. The place is about 20km away from Jodhpur city, a bit tricky to find also since we arrived at night, but well worth the effort.
The place looks just as good, if not better than in photos. We love the little huts- the place is great - good, clean, comfortable rooms (with warm blankets and clean bedding), a decent bathroom, great food, beautiful common areas and a warm and hospitable family. It is a perfectly-sized compound, enough room to walk around and enjoy. The wifi is available in the common area and not the rooms, which was a welcome change and opportunity to relax without technology.
We arrived late night, around 11pm, but were welcomed very well, and served freshly cooked dinner. Chhotaram's wife, Mamata and sister-in-law cook delicious vegetarian food over a traditional stove and it is a pleasure to see. The food is tasty, every meal is a feast, they make sure we are 100% full and are very generous with servings.
Chhotaram is an excellent host. Very personable, sincere and knows how to treat guests. We all loved our stay here, many thanks also to the nice family behind it. Our length of stay was just right - 3 nights and 2 full days, but I personally would've loved to stay longer and definitely wish to come back!
I booked Chottaram`s home-stay with the anticipation of getting to experience the rural taste of Rajasthan and I was not wrong with my selection. Now settled overseas, but originally form eastern India am aware of the culture and traditional life of rural India and I am very happy that I selected this home-stay. They provide every facility that an urban dweller requires. Although there is no newspaper (hardcopy) but who needs when you have access to wifi. May be the food is not served on expensive china but the taste of food cooked on clay burner on wood fire makes food more tastier. Rooms are naturally ventilated and made with clad and straw chips making the room cooler on a hot day and pleasant on a cold day. Bed and blankets were clean. Finally, the hospitality of the whole family will get full marks.
We love our stay there very unique place.
The family treat the guest as their own
The huts are large and the bed comfortable with good fresh air
We we went to trip field with members of the family
Avions reserve 1 case pour 3, mais pas possible de disposer 1 lit supp. dans la case. Obliger de prendre 1 supp. Facturee au prix fort 2000rps, alors que deja paye pour 3. Alors que penser ! Volontaire ou pas ? Sinon sympa, rustique, bon acceuil, famille charmante
We can't recommend highly enough. Great change of pace after being in cities. Chhotaram and his family are generous hosts who introduced us to Rajasthani family life. The food was delicious. We recommend the village tour. Our stay here will be a highlight of our month long trip through India. Would recommend this homestay to anyone.
This is not a desert safari nor fancy hotel. It is a chance to stay with a lovely group of people as a member of their family. We stayed for two days which felt about right. Read up on what to expect and then you will not be disappointed or surprised. Thanks to Chotti and hs family.

My girlfriend and I stayed with chotoram and his family at their home stay for three nights and we enjoyed every moment. During our stay chotoram and his family couldn't have been more welcoming, it is definitely a place to stay if you would like a real insight into a traditional indian family and their home life. Whilst there we enjoyed having every meal cooked for us (which were delicious!) a village trek at sunset and visit to the local temple, a city sight seeing tour and village safari of salawas and the surrounding area. We were also given the opportunity to make chapati with chotorams lovely wife, dressed in full length sari which you also have a chance to dress up in. In our 2 months travel in India it has been our favourite place and experience, can't recommend it enough.
This is a homestay, i.e bed and breakfast hotel. Living quarter are excellant. Location is rural and in village.
Overall Excellant experience and enjoyable exprience.
Location provides local site and village and desert saffari.
Booked by accident, however Excellant experience.
The highlight of our Indian trip, a place of peace away from the throb of India's cities. A warm family that teach you about Rajasthan's customs and cultures. We loved it and recommend it to all visitors to experience what real India is about.
I spent 3 weeks in India and booked a couple of nights here and I am really really glad I did as it became the best part of the whole trip.
I was picked up at the train station by Chhotaram and his father also warmly welcomed to their house by his mother and greeted as well by Chhotaram's wife and all the family.
The following day we arranged a Safari around the area and a tour around Jodhpur and with the little time I had I was able to enjoy beautiful landscapes, loads of wildlife and had the opportunity to meet people from the area and see the great expertise of the different families working on Textile, Clay..etc and even attended to an interesting tea ceremony; In Jodhpur, I was taken to see the most important sites and we also went for a little trekking up to a hill to see the view from there. It was amazing!
The accommodation was perfect; very spacious and beautifully decorated traditional hut with my own bathroom and a very big and comfortable bed. The family shared many activities with me and their homemade food and juices are one of the best I have tasted.
I had a lovely time with all the family…they definitely go the extra mile to make you feel not only very comfortable during your stay but also like you have always been part of their family.
Staying at Chhotaram Prajapat's homestay it is a unique experience that everyone travelling to India should have. I hope I can go back to India and stay with them again for a longer period of time
Chhotaram picked me up at my Hotel in Jodhpur and we drove about 30km to his village. I stayed in one of four immaculate traditional round thatched huts - with a simple bathroom attached.
During my visit I talked to the extended family, spent ages in the cooking hut watching his wife, Mamata, prepare delicious meals on an open fire that used wood and dried cow dung for fuel, went on a village walk-about with Chhotaram and an afternoon drive with his father, who has run a dhurry-making cooperative for the past 20 years. It was a wonderful time and the desert will never seem a barren wasteland to me again.
