"Our room was not ready when we were checking in. We were waiting in lobby and after 45 minutes had to check in with reception to see if our room was ready. We thought we would be offered at least a beverage but wasn’t offered anything."

"Kind of Motel 6 standard for post-COVID hotels. The worst part was the breakfast which, by any standard, was 1/5, but for a $300+ hotel, should have been way better. Unfortunately, I had gut issues after eating there and that lasted for a couple days. Thanks! I'm not sure what absurd amount you have to pay in Moncton for a decent place to sleep, shower and s*** and a decent breakfast but I'm not going find out. Next time I'll try a B&B in the burbs."

"When we arrived we were assigned a room on the second floor. The room was in rough shape. My husband sat in the upholstered chair and the seat dropped way down leaving him looking like a child reaching up to the armrests. That chair should have been replaced long ago. The armrests were dirty, the room smelled musty and Smokey….the desk was marked up and chipped and the curtains were askew. It really looked like something that you’d see in an old dorm room. We went to the front desk and asked to be moved only to be told the hotel was full and there was nothing they could do. After a short conversation about the state of the room they agreed to move us. The new room was better, the chairs were clean and comfortable, the room didn’t smell but it was definitely outdated. Lesson learned, you get what you paid for."

"We have stayed many times at this hotel when catching a flight from Stanfield - Halifax airport. This stay may very well be our last. We usually have an up to date room not far down the hall. This trip, I realized that there are rooms in need of serious upgrading and we got one. The breakfast in the morning is another story. We were there about 8:30 am and the breakfast items had not been replenished. It seemed to me that the kitchen staff were overwhelmed and increasingly agitated. There was no sign of a manager to triage other staff to change the overflowing garbage bags and carry trays of supplies in order to allow the cooks to get food prepared. Maybe there were extenuating circumstances to cause the upheaval. The surprise about the change to the 14 day no charge parking is annoying. On the good side, the shuttle was very efficient and the driver friendly helpful and cheerful. The Hidden Gem is in fact a gem. The food and service was excellent. I’m sad that this hotel has declined so severely."

"I've stayed in a number of hotels in Halifax and surrounding areas and without a doubt this hotel is the single worst hotel experience I've had. For my 8 night stay I paid more then I ever had for any of the other hotels listed on Expedia in HRM and here’s what I noticed; 1. The rooms are obviously pictured to be tiny but the grasp of how tiny they are is only made in person. There is ZERO storage space in the entire room with the exception of 1 pull out drawer which handle was broken and inaccessible and the small suitcase storage under the bed does not in fact fit a suitcase. The layout of the room made no sense. In order to watch the tv you have to be propped up at the foot of either bed to see the full screen. 2. Easily the biggest issue with this hotel is the noise. Every Saturday the lobby turns into a nightclub with blaring music that from the second floor is heard so clearly it literally shakes the room. I was unlucky enough to have a 4AM flight on Sunday morning and when I advised staff of the noise in my room I was told “we are fully booked, and there’s no rooms to move you too, you’ll have to deal with it”. I can most certainly understand wanting to cultivate a fun experience in your lobby but it should not come at the cost of the comfort of your guests, after all this is a hotel. Ultimately, I would recommend nearly any other hotel in Halifax over this one."
