The house was wonderful, the town was delightful, and the people were very friendly! We can’t wait for our next trip!
We have stayed at The Peter Ray House several times and it never disappoints. Beautiful, clean, comfortable home. This place has everything needed for a comfortable stay.
Loved the location and the front porch made morning coffee special. The rooms were spacious, the kitchen well stocked and we appreciated the vintage decor. Hope to come back again.
House was perfect. Old house in an old small town that was perfect for a night getaway. The house is in very good shape and has great history to it. Bed was comfortable and everything was very clean.
This property is amazing! The cleanest place I've ever stayed in. The house is beautifully restored, very welcoming and comfortable. Loved the historocity of the house and the community. I highly recommend this place for a getaway!
We had a great stay. The property was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked, as were the bathrooms. We were a group of five and there was plenty of room for all of us. The property was in excellent condition and well maintained. We will definitely be back.
Peter Ray house is a great place to stay! Very well done! Modern and clean with all the historic touches of the original house! Enjoyed our stay in this very historic home and town. Peaceful and scenic. A perfect getaway! You will enjoy it!
The Peter Ray house was exactly as described in the listing. The property was immaculate and the owner has thought of everything. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, utensils and everything needed to cook. The living room was cozy and comfortable and the beds were very comfortable as well. The town is so peaceful and quiet and we both slept so well. The property has been restored with thoughtfulness and love. We enjoyed looking around the house. The backyard is very inviting.
This house was so beautifully restored and lovingly decorated to make the history come alive! It was white glove clean on top of that. We really loved the cozy upstairs as a place to hang out and the huge covered front porch was just gorgeous for watching storms. The town is quiet and charming. It was just right for us!
Great place to stay. Very comfortable surroundings and as described. If it hadnt had been for the malfunctioning smoke detectors, it would have been perfect. Glad they didnt go off in the middle of the night, and glad you could get it fixed while we were out during the day.
Was so happy staying here - satisfied in every way. The house was just as described (even better than I expected), clean, and comfortable. Communication with Joyce was excellent - she was always available, and very descriptive with the overall checkin/checkout process. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. (:
This is an amazing property. The home is beautiful and very period appropriate. It felt like home. The front porch was very relaxing. We loved sitting outside and relaxing. This home was immaculate on the inside, with plenty of room for the 3 of us. I can not say enough about this home. We will definitely be back to visit.
Wonderful weekend! We were there to watch a college golf conference tournament. There were four adults and we didn't want to pay the price of two hotel rooms. Booking this VRBO home was just the solution. Everything about it was perfect. 5 star stay for sure. We will be back if given the opportunity.
We were in the area for a family reunion and the Peter Ray House was perfect for our needs since it had a bedroom and bathroom downstairs as well as the full suite upstairs. Everything was well stocked, clean, and just a really cute house and grounds! I wish we had been there on the weekend so more places were open. The stairs going in the back door don’t have railings so we were extra cautious getting some older family members in the house. The stairs to the second floor are steep but have railings so it wasn’t a problem. Overall this is a great property and we will definitely go back.
This lovely home had everything that one would need to enjoy a quiet weekend. Plenty of room to relax and enjoy quality time with the family. Two lounging areas, 2 bedrooms and 2 full baths (one upstairs), plus a large dining room table.
I loved the historic feel of the home, imagining life of the past tenants... 150 plus years ago. Before and after pictures of the renovation were provided. The house fits right in to the historical feel of the town. We took a short walk to the main stree to a small coffee shop, then spotted a shallow creek to dip our toes in. I wish I had more time.
I dont even know where to start. I absolutely fell in love with the property. I work a very stressful job and rarely get 10 minutes to myself, so being able to make some coffee and sit on the front porch and watch the hummingbirds flutter around.... oh my, what a piece of heaven. I haven't enjoyed peace like this in such a long time. I didn't want to leave the porch.
Joyce did a great job communicating. She is such a sweetheart. I can go on and on but there is only so much space. I just can't wait for my next trip back home to IL so I can stay here! See you next year, maybe sooner! :-)
