There are four cabins spaced apart with a large expanse of grass leading toward the lake. The grounds are well maintained with picnic tables and fire pits.
We spent three nights here after a long trip. The bed was comfortable. We spent the evenings on the front porch. It was very quiet and relaxing.
We were told the jetted bathtub didn't work, but that wasn't important to us. The shower in the bathroom worked well. The new owners are working on the property and making improvements. I'd recommend a stay here.
Nice cabin with a fire pit out front. It is a nice dark area and it offers privacy except from people in the other 3 cabins. It is close enough to town to get groceries and offers a quite nights sleep.
Everything was in good shape and clean when I arrived, and everything worked well (shower pressure, electric, fridge). Bed was a little soft for my liking but overall a nice area. Would love to come back in the summer!
A laid-back sort of place that was a great place to rest. We didn't see another person until late in the afternoon of our second day! Check-in was easy, appliances are working great (except the TV), and the beds were very comfortable. TV reception is very poor, but we didn't need it anyway.

Beautiful, clean but toilet ran constantly and phone number for check out was no longer in servive. Stove set off smoke alarm but mo smoke was seen.
Ok, first, these aren't out in the middle of the woods if that's what you're looking for. They are in a rural area, however, and are about 200 feet from a nice lake. Great little getaway and Scott was excellent to work with. Field of Dreams movie site is about a half hour away, so we made sure to check that out as well. Would definitely stay there again.
Terrific self-service cabins within easy walking distance of the river. Quiet, comfortable stay. If you're the type that enjoys a few creature comforts but prefers to be on your own from start to finish, then this is paradise. Leave your expectations of the urban 5-star spa resort behind and come enjoy being responsible for yourself in a secluded corner of rural Americana off the beaten path.
We enjoyed the cabin itself. We had cabin #3 which had 2 full beds and a full kitchen, fully stocked with pots and pans, dishes, silverware, a toaster, etc. There was a window air conditioner which was not turned on prior to our arrival, so it took a while for the cabin to cool down. There was a storm coming in, so it cooled off outside, it was nice that the windows opened (screens). The biggest downside for me was that my cellphone had ZERO service. T-Mobile. Another friend staying had AT&T and hers didn't work either. Only sprint did. There was no telephone in the cabin and satellite TV was spotty at best. There was a DVD player so we bought my daughter a DVD at Walmart so she'd have something to do in the morning while we were cleaning up (Taking garbage out, washing dishes) and packing up.
Decided to rent a cabin as a family get away for Christmas. The drive from Southern Iowa was fine (typical winter driving) until we got to Manchester. Stopped at Wal Mart to pick up the rest of our food/drink items. The snow was coming down pretty good by the time we arrived, and realized our vehicle was no match for the snowy road to the cabin, but we made it. Scott had upgraded us from Cabin 1 to Cabin 4 and we were so happy he did! Was cozy with the gas fireplace and I made use of the kitchenette, even though the majority of our meals were in crock pots. Was good to have the TV to keep informed on the weather. Alas! the weather became too much for the rest of our family so our gathering became a cozy weekend for two! We stayed in the whole time, even though we had brought our fishing gear to do some nearby trout fishing. Played cards and Yahtzee and watched Christmas programs. It was a very relaxing stay and the snow added to the scenery. Left Christmas morning and made a stop to our family to deliver their gifts, so it was all good :)
We needed a night away. I booked this cabin last minute and the owner even left the key for us cause we were getting in late. I got there and the site of the cabin made me feel right at home. I walked into the cabin and instantly felt at home. I even woke up the next day and told the owner I wanted a job there lol. I am definitely staying again and hopefully soon.
Took the wife for a weekend away. Very quiet and peaceful. It's a cabin, so you may have a fly or two around - but it's a cabin! Grilled every night with provided charcoal grill. Fire every night in the firepit for each cabin's private use. all utencils, pots, pans, plates, glasses, etc provided for you. Nice beach area on the river.
