"A really beautiful cottage pub with great features that set it apart from others. The room was lovely and airy, with fresh cold water available in the hallway. The bathroom was good too. The made-to-order breakfast was delicious; I would highly recommend it to anyone staying there."

"A superb place to stay. Immaculate throughout. Spa simply wonderful. Grounds fabulous. The stay the best you will find - they clearly enjoy working here and it comes through in every part of the hotel. Just the best experience you could have. Five star plus plus. "

"On arrival I was greeted by an unmanned reception, no staff to be found anywhere. Telephoning revealed the reception phone was on mute, which also explains why I couldn’t get any answer in the days leading up to my stay to confirm a dinner reservation. Nobody at the bar either, eventually I wondered into the kitchen and asked the chef to find someone to check me in. The menu is very limited on choice and is no better than any other gastro pub in the area. The drinks prices, when you finally get served, are some what disproportionately expensive given the service. £10 for half a pint of canned lager. The room we had was a bath only…no shower, no tea or coffee in the room, no television either. Nor is there a phone / room service (not that it would be answered!) the garden / terrace was closed (looks permanently decommissioned / abandoned). Style over substance. The woeful service quickly diminishes any novelty value the decor should provide. I wouldn’t bother with it again."

"Delightful situation in picturesque house and gardens. Staff pleasant and friendly though I arrived at the same time as people arriving for a large function so reception staff stretched. The bed was comfy and the room small but pleasant. Could have benefited from a shelf in the bathroom. Dinner was excellent. £21.89 for two medium glasses of ordinary wine was a bit steep. Breakfast was ok, though the chafing dishes needed two heaters to keep the food hot. Overall I'd recommend this hotel. "

"Lovely maintained garden in bloom to walk around, modern comfortable and spacious garden rooms in newer wing. However, unfortunately proximity to the M4 means the noise of traffic is inescapable dampening the whole experience - even in the rooms where seals on windows needs improving and very loud in the garden - so no quiet relaxing if noise is an issue. Bathroom was not 100% clean in the room - toothpaste left on wash basin. Breakfast was quite average."
