Sunset Ranch, a private acre lot facing open ranch land and high planes desert

Sunset Ranch is an acre lot at the far southeast corner of Marathon, TX that backs up to the ranch land facing south that provides unobstructed views of sunrises and sunsets from the 700 sf covered porch. Marathon is a quaint west Texas town with a public park, gardens, restaurants and shopping. It also has a level 1 night sky rating for star gazing. Located 40 minutes from Big Bend National Park entrance, this is a launch point to explore the national park as well as other West Texas parks and communities. The studio is well laid out for up to 2 adults with a queen size bed and semi-firm latex mattress. Upon request, an air mattress can be setup for additional guests or children.

Warm getaway

It was the perfect place to stay to enjoy hiking and sightseeing. A bit of a drive to the good spots but such a relaxing place when you get back. The description was spot on!

Hidden gem all to yourself!

Extremely peaceful property on our way to visit Big Bend. The owner thought of every convenience to ensure a wonderful vacation. Our favorite was the outdoor area and all the windows to enjoy the beautiful night sky and morning view for miles.

I loved watching the cubby of quail in the yard while I ate breakfast. I needed another wash cloth. I love sitting out in the evening on the patio, very relaxing. Perfect place to stay before heading to Big Bend.

I found the accommodations to be very well thought out and comfortable. Everything was clean and in good working order. Watching the stars, the sunrises and the sunsets was a pleasure. It is also close to Big Bend and Fort Davis. The Gage Gardens are beautiful.

Perfect for exploring Big Bend National Park

The property is exactly as the listing describes. Jim has thought of everything to make the guests comfortable. It was just the place to relax and also to explore the Big Bend region. Jim was helpful and responsive. I happily recommend this place!

Marathon casita

Amazing place! Small, quaint house, but it was enough space for 2 adults and our little ones. Loved the Bluetooth speaker set up through out the house and outside in the patio. Made s'mores in the chimenea both nights, that our kiddos loved. Couldn't see stars because of overcast weather, but thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Will definitely return to this hidden gem 😁

Another great stay at Sunset Ranch

My husband and I stayed at Sunset Ranch in 2020 and had a great stay...so much so we booked it again. This place is located in the neighborhood but feels very secluded on the acre lot and you're facing an open plain with a beautiful view and a great opportunity to catch some amazing sunsets. This place is well appointed throughout, too many great things to list. The listing gives a great detailed description. We appreciate the builtin indoor/outdoor speakers, dark roast coffee beans, great lighting, usb plugins, comfy bed, and a great shower! Thank you Jim for creating a great gem of a place to stay at. We hope to return again in the future!

We enjoyed the house & location. It was very accommodating for our pet, we have a Belgian malinois so she’s very busy. Very big lot for her to roam. The speakers on the patio were excellent, my kids really enjoyed that. Made s’more in the fire pit & stayed warm, it got cool the evening. Close proximity to Big Bend. Overall it was a great relaxing weekend for me & my family!!

Jim was a great host. Very responsive! The place is small but set up perfect with great use of the space. We had all the comforts of home. Our favorite part was sitting outside listening to the radio by the fire. While stargazing! There’s a small but nice park not far from the house and several local restaurants. The grocery store is small but has a little bit of everything, just expect to pay double. I was a bit sticker shocked. There is a bigger grivery store in Alpine with reasonable prices about 30 min away. Big Bend isn’t too far from this location.Overall a great place to stay. Will definitely be back!
