The Grand Canyon itself is an amazing destination, however, there are so many great sites and destinations near or on the trip to the Grand Canyon. Stumbled upon this beautiful site on the journey to the north rim! There’s a great NPS visitor center here. There is a great treat of a population of California condors (an extremely endangered species for those who are unaware... as I was prior to my visit). There are also native artists selling beautiful works if you take the beautiful walk across to the other side of the bridge:)

It doesn’t really matter the time of day. The minutes, the seconds as after all, time is purely an invention of humankind. Time is one of the first things that disappear when you are within its presence. And an invention of humankind is exactly what The Mighty C is not. The stillness, the fury. It can be both; it can be what flows through my veins. The enigmatic Colorado River: shot from Navajo Bridge as it shapes Marble Canyon before unleashing into the magical Grand Canyon.

Marble Canyon Lodge has been around since the 1920s. There is a historical marker about the Dominguez-Escalante expedition in 1776 that came through here looking for a route to Monterey.

If you are used to city life this is definitely not that. This is a very small, remote town on the Colorado River, with few modern conveniences. Very dry, desert climate. Internet is spotty and slow at best. Beautiful natural area.
