Nice clean place, staff very friendly, if a little under staffed, could do with additional staff in my opinion, but the staff I encountered remained positive and very helpful. atmosphere is good, the food was good, all in all I had a pleasant stay. If leaving before the main pub entrance is open, the route out to the car park could do that lighting, it’s very dark exiting via that route.

Ideal location from travel.
Ideal location for travel, and food/service in the pub/restaurant was fantastic. But the windows didn't open in a very warm room, and they were not daily changed or cleaned! Rooms have been updated, but the shower and carpet are not great.
at booking the hotels .com site stated breakfast included but on arrival were told no breakfast as they did not do breakfasts, whilst very disappointing our stay was very good, food firstclass and management and staff exellent

Lovely country pub. Good food. Friendly staff. Rooms clean and adequate. Comfy bed and hot shower. The floorboards seemed very uneven with two noticeable depressions. There were no staff available on checkout to report this to.

The staff made up for a disappointing cold room with broken toilet on arrival by finding another room. Some options were not available on the menu but we had an enjoyable evening and would love to come back in the summer to enjoy the outdoor space.

A bit of a bizarre set up.
The main access is via the pub unless it’s between the hours of 2100 and 1200 in which case you have to use the fire exit. Check out process doesn’t exist.
Breakfast isn’t an option, despite being listed as.
The road is pretty noisy. But the beds are very comfy.

The pub had very recently changed hand and there were obviously teething troubles. Not a very varied menu in comparison to what was previously offered. Nice room but no breakfast available apart from a box of cereal in the room. When we came back to the venue at 10.30pm we had to.go in via fire door. Not very welcoming also left this morning via fire exit and not seeing a single member of staff. At £100 for room would not use again.

We needed a room at short notice. It was warm and comfortable. Didn't eat as they weren't doing breakfast. Had a drink at 9.30 in bar - just in time as was closing down. Odd to be locked in the hotel section and shown where the fire escape was.
The Pelican was a lovely place to stay on our trip; the surrounding lawns, garden, pond and brook were lovely to sit by on a warm day, and the dinner we had was really excellent. Our room was nice and had plenty of room, but was very, very warm (it faced the afternoon sun), and there is no A/C. The weather was unusually warm for England during our stay… We purchased electric fans to help with the heat and left them there for the Inn - we hope they will be made available to future guests.
Great bed. Well decorated bedroom. Bathroom good - a little chilly. Hot shower over bath. Could do with a grab rail on wall over bath to hold on to as you get in and out of the bath
No Breakfast (despite website) but Meal was Great!
We always book B&B (breakfast included in price) so imagine our surprise when checking in we were told that there was no breakfast! We could buy, at extra cost, a continental breakfast bag. Hence only two stars! The manager was apologetic but we also had it on our papers. We chose the Pelican because it was exactly the same price but with breakfast as a nearby place without breakfast!
Anyway, we had a lovely evening meal in the restaurant in the Pelican, so we can recommend that.
The room was cold - single glazed windows and a not very warm radiator but there was an electric heater in the wardrobe which we used. There was no heating in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable.
We just stopped here for the night and got a pleasant surprise. Wonderful friendly staff, a good meal in the large gardens, a comfortable room. There was a bit of traffic noise so not ideal for a quiet getaway, but it was perfect for our needs as a stopping place to break up a long journey.
Breakfast no longer available here. Expedia needs to update their details.

I was disappointed as when I made the booking it says breakfast included, once I confirmed the booking it said room only, the property still says breakfast available but this is not an option and misleading, I have complained to Expedia, but this has not changed
The lady on reception was lovely, no towels in the room, and when i tried tp the get one the hotel was empty, no breakfast which i was told by hotels.com there was one, it should have been £40 max not £104
Stayed here a few times on this occasion it was only after I checked in I was told there is no hot water during my stay, not ideal when you have just finished work
Friendly staff, good variety of drinks in the pub, lovely beer garden for a nightcap. Room was great but clearly part way through a renovation. The room was obviously recently decorated but the bathroom was much older, although all clean and working. Didn’t stay for breakfast as we had to be away before 9am. Free parking on site about 10m from the stairs to the room.
There were no breakfast facilities even though website said breakfast available. Room was cold as radiator was not working. Requested another room which was ok.
