"Let me start by saying there was no power. A massive storm had come through. The front desk was running on a generator and no rooms had power. It was late at night and this was the only possible place to stay. The staff made us feel incredibly welcome in a tough time and even managed to dig up some fruit for my kids to have for breakfast in the morning while power was still out. There was a lot they couldn’t do because the lack of utilities prevented it. However, everything they could do they did. We are grateful they were there."

"If you didn't know Gallops had a motel above the store, well neither did I! I will start by saying I didn't know they would be charging an additional $150 on top of the $100 for the room, with the promise of returning it in 4-5 business days if the room was clean and orderly. We had the extra but in case others don't, remember that. Anyways, the guys behind the counter were fine. Some were a little hard to understand but we got checked in and up to the room. The room was spotless. It's weird because it's concrete with a rug but it's cleaner that way because there's no carpet, no place for dirt or bugs to hide. The shower was huge and has a waterfall feature with GREAT water pressure. It's mostly quiet until the wee morning hours then I swear you can hear every phone alarm go off on the entire floor. That didn't ruin it for me. You got an IHOP and Mexican restaurant and convenience store a few steps from you. The store itself is impressively stocked, boiled peanuts, fresh pizza, coffee, nachos and cheese, toys, candy, novelty things, household stuff, car stuff. And they have some arcade games down there, too. Really neat lil place and not too many people know about it. I would recommend it to anyone who is passing by."

"Lakeside Nest was the perfect place for our girls' weekend! The house itself is absolutely charming and the host's attention to detail and personal touches were greatly appreciated. We spent the majority of our time relaxing on the spacious deck while enjoying the quiet and beauty of the lake. Convenient location for visiting Shipshewana and Middlebury."
