"The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was quite good. You used your key to access the property at night, along with the lift and stairs. We weren’t told about it during check-in but discovered it on our own. Bed was ok but pillows were not very comfortable. "

"2rd stay at this hotel. Refused upgrade said not available. Had to argue for a 1 1/2 hour late checkout we did get a one hour late( why not give the extra 1/2 hour we asked for. No free parking mentioned. We never ate at this hotel too expensive. The bar is small and difficult to find a seat except spillover in hall. Bar staff were very nice but to busy to talk and drinks were crazy expensive. The bathroom sink only produced scalding hot water or cold.😡 For a five star we expected better service"

"Strait forward instructions given for gaining access to the property, although it was tricky to find the the entry route at times of heavy traffic. We became expect with time. Loved the welcomers hamper and thoughtful provision of small items often forgotten.eg.dishwasher tablet.Also enjoyed selection of cookbooks. Black bin full on arrival ( understandable) Would be useful to illustrate on the notice board as to the necessity of placing this at the street entrance. The door handle on the downstairs loo was a safety hazard in an emergency situation as this came off completely and could cause panic in a child or older visitor. Otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed our short break in York and apologies again as our hasty departure scrambled the location for the key on exit. My fault entirely"
