Really helpful team. Only reason for scoring 4 for comfort was because it was too warm in the room (as with vast majority of hotels).
Good food, good price, very friendly people.
Staff very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room was extremely comfortable, the only downside being the taps in the bath/ shower. To warn of hot water was an understatement - you had a choice. Be scalded or have at best a luke warm shower. As for food - we ate a late lunch there and the food was excellent - with absolutely huge portions. Breakfast was not so good although still passable - it would have been good to have had the option of fruit.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
I don’t really have much good to say apart the staff were extremely professional, polite and well turned out however, the rest of the hotel had a very strong food/cookin oil aroma, very poor finish to the rooms, dated and very insecure.
Bar was ok but under staffed.
A lick of paint and a new carpet are far from what this establishment needs to bring it to a 1 star hotel.
Sorry to the staff , you guys were what stopped us from leaving the moment we arrived.
Shower was terrible and the same dead flies in the same place as the first nigh.
Booked it same day, the room was on the 4th floor and as it was during the heatwave, was a bit warm, they did provide us with couple of fans that helped. It was a lovely room with a sofa, TV and vanity table. A nice view of trees and sunset. It was clean everywhere.
The hotel staff were very nice. The hotel is very dated. Only single beds in each room which weren’t comfortable. You are able to hear all the noise on the street. Great hotel for a no frills stay
Turned up, checked in, went to room.and left immediately due to hotel clientele, the excessive noise from the 3 pubs right next door and the strong smell of fatty food cooking underneath us. The hotel, according to locals, has gone downhill since new owners have taken over and is little more than a glorified hostel.
This property WAS and still IS a hostel for the homeless. The first floor has been “renovated” if you can call a lick of paint renovated, but the second floor is empty and the 3 rd floor has homeless tenants put up by the local council. This IS NOT a hotel!! This is a multi occupancy dwelling in a really dodgy part of town and if you have any sense you will find somewhere else, I have never been so frightened in a “hotel”
The Ceiling was broken, the main lights in the room didn't work, the shower didn't work the hot water didnt work and the cold water wasn't cold over all not worth the price of the hotel room at all
Horrendous, most things broken or not working
Why can't I post pictures of this?
I need a full or partial refund, shower wasn't working, dirty, broken tiles paint and dirt on the bathroom door, paperthin walls which resulted in listening to our 'neighbours ' nocturnal activities, arguing, slamming doors
Check in staff member was very unwelcoming, tried to claim that we may not be allowed into our booked room because the hotel "doesn't allow 3 adults into the same room", even though we booked the room for 3 adults and the hotel accepted our booking. 3 adults in our case were 2 parents and our child aged 18. I think that to try to deny admission (or more likely try to con us into paying for a second room) because our child is a few days over the age of 18, rather than below it (when he would be classed as a "child" rather than "adult) is preposterous. Anyway, there was nothing about this hotel "policy" on its website and our booking for 3 adults was accepted. In the end we were allowed into our room after the receptionist "phoned the manager" to ask if she can let us into our room but this is not the sort of welcome we would expect from any normal hotel. Additionally, she was generally sour, unpleasant and unhelpful. I had to go back to the reception later to ask for the password for their free wifi, because the receptionist didn't provide it. Though by the time I got back to the reception, there was a different receptionist there, who provided the password and was generally helpful and friendly.
Strong smell of paint, no carpet on the stairs to the rooms only underlay (there was a lift)
Room smelt stale, drawers didn't have any handles only bare screws, the bathroom sink had a crack in it,broken tiles, paint and dirt on the bathroom door and the shower didn't work.
When we complained about the shower and the fact that we had driven 3 hours to get there and wanted to freshen up the receptionist said 'well you don't smell 'and that the handyman had gone home and there was nothing she could do, we asked to move rooms but there wasn't anything available.
I would really like either a full or partial refund as the hotel was 100% not as advertised

Visiting Friends
Was staying central for surprise visit to friends, hotel was clean, but needing good upgrade, overbath shower didn’t work, and found out on floor 3&4 there were homeless accommodation
No double glazing and our room looked out onto street with pubs and clubs so heard every noise till the early hours
Was told breakfast was till 9.30an at weekends, got t/call on Saturday at 9am to say breakfast was finishing, ended up saying no to breakfast as we were not ready they did offer a sandwich, not at 9am, had to eat out on Saturday morning, no refund offered.
A hot night in Merthyr with windows wide open was not ideal. The windows were too high to close. Constant noise- screaming and shouting until 3am in the morning. This was our first and last visit and will not be going back. Staff were friendly and even though we decided to leave at 5.30 am, a member of staff was available to unlock the main door to let us out. Hotel is a bit dated and room wall extremely tatty but this was reflected by the cost - £59!

Family stay
Stayed for a night with the family. The night receptionist, a friendly person, but not fully informed. We were told we could order breakfast in the morning. At 730, a new face at the reception, she was not friendly, at the same time said breakfast should have had been ordered at night.
Rooms are old, windows are old single glazed, need modernisation.
Old draughty windows, heating in the room not working, and only Luke warm water in the bathroom, made for a very uncomfortable stay.

Window didn’t shut, room door didn’t have a lock on it so anyone is free to walk into your room. There was a open shower fell left in our shower from the previous stay.
