Rustic comfortable cottage with everything you could need. We visited from Kangaroo Island. It was great to spend the Christmas season in the Barossa. A gorgeous place.
Lemke Cottage was a wonderfully picturesque historical sanctuary. It was was comfortable and beautifully decorated with period pieces and thoughtful touches. We loved it.
Beautifully presented property in lovely quiet location. It's clear that so much love and care that has gone into every detail. The rustic decor and incredible selection of historical items and furnishings are fascinating and totally charming. Perfect for a weekend getaway and reset.
Very impressed with renovation and presentation with many little touches such as continental breakfast ingredients, books and brochures on the area, high standard of fixtures and fittings. An ideal base for our activities including gliding at Stonefield, meet with friends at Tanunda and a few wineries. Very relaxing spot.
Beautiful old cottage, decorated in keeping with its history even down to the wooden pegs! All the mods cons for a wonderful stay yet feeling like your surroundings are back in time. Peaceful and relaxing. Our only issue was that the WiFi was a bit tricky but for us that detachment from the world allowed for a more relaxed stay!
We loved the old world charm with the modern amenities of this cottage. Looking at the bibs and bobs of yesteryear brought back many memories of previous generations. The old Singer sewing machine reminded me of the one my Mum had when we were growing up. The original phone was wonderful and though we knew that it worked, it still made us jump when it actually rang - pity it was a telemarketer. The bed downstairs was comfortable. Being able to charge the electric vehicle we hired at the cottage was an added bonus for us. The cottage remained cool even when it was 36 degrees outside, so we didn't need the air conditioner and the ceiling fans were enough to keep us cool at night. It was lovely to be able to do some washing and having the wash powder available at the cottage meant we didn't have to buy a pack just for one or two washes - it was very thoughtful of the owners. The owner, John, was very helpful with information for charging the electric vehicle as we don't have one of our own and were just trialling one to see how they drove. The location was very close to the nearby wineries and we didn't have to travel far if we didn't want to. Thanks very much, lovely place to stay.
this was a quiet little cottage, bit far out for us from the towns but we enjoyed our stay, it had plenty of supplies if you forgot to grab something while out, perfect spot if you don't mind a bit of a drive and just want to put the feet up and just relax.
We enjoyed our stay in lovely Lemke Cottage in Moculta. It was so well set up and such interesting nick nacks from bygone years decorating the rooms. The loft was a lovely room to stay in as well. We enjoyed visiting the Barossa, including wineries in the area.
Charming old cottage with a rustic charm. A little deferred maintenance on the yard but everything worked in the house and the host left some nice treats.
From the outset the communication with the owners was perfect, John and Jan gave us ideas for activities and had literally thought of everything - it was a cold weekend but the house had ample firewood, reverse cycle heating and electric blankets, there is no way we could be cold. There is a pod coffee machine, a BBQ, a well appointed bathroom and the cottage is private, cosy and in an area that is a short drive to most of the local attractions. An easy drive to Angaston, Nuri and Tanunda, there are wineries, gourmet cafes and the egg and bacon rolls and coffee at the Angaston Market are worth the trip alone! Small places selling local produce makes it easy to cook your own meals or drive to one of the local towns for cafes and restaurants.
Would stay again, had a great weekend!
My husband and I stayed in the property for three nights. We really enjoyed it. Peaceful, quiet location, lots of space inside and outside. Lots of things to explore in the area and then return to this beautiful cottage and relax surrounded by tranquility and local history. Museum and home in one! Fantastic holiday! Thanks so much John and Jan!
Moculta is delightful and the property's back yard is lovely - with many trees.
The cottage is really well organised for guests. I was able to be very productive, working from the dining room table, which was great.
John is extrememly responsive and helpful in helping solve issues that cropped up (not many, mind you).
Staying in Lemke cottage was like staying in the pioneering era. The house has been renovated with beautiful stone and woodwork that maintains the integrity of the cottage. It's furnished with a collection of 'labour saving devices' from the past, such as an old washing machine and wringer and allowing us to imagine the hard work that was required in everyday life over a hundred years ago - 'mod-cons' or not!
Lemke cottage is situated in the small, quiet village of Mocculta. The drive into Angaston and other Barossa towns, is beautiful and at the end of a day of sight seeing etc. can be enjoyed once more, knowing that the feeling of home and comfort awaits. We will certainly return to the home of the true artisans that have recreated it with their own vision.
This place is a lovely blast from the past, meticulously decorated with an amazing array of historic gems put together with loving care and a clear passion.
Wonderful cottage fully equipped. Amazingly furnished with many vintage items. The owner had thoughtfully left many provisions for our stay which were much appreciated. Lovely country garden setting.
