Convenient economical place to stay

Clean property with all the amenities that we needed for a short stay in Mount Gambier; would recommend if you have a family to stay with younger children as there is outside space to play.

Disappointing stay

This property was riddled with issues making our stay rather uncomfortable & unpleasant. The cleanliness was way below average, with lots of cobwebs, dirty bed linen, towels, floors and outdoor sitting area. Several safety hazards were also quite concerning - broken bed slats in the master bedroom, a broken ladder on the bunk bed, broken dishwasher and poor electrical wiring in the living room which tripped the circuit breaker. The broken metal ladder on the bunk bed was swinging back and forth and we had to secure it ourselves to avoid injury to the kids. We couldn't use the ensuite bathroom as the lights were not working and it lacked any natural lighting - meaning there was only one shower and toilet to share amongst our big group. Overall this was definitely not an enjoyable stay and rather disappointing that the host has not paid attention to some of the same issues mentioned in previous reviews by guests. The owner/ host needs to fix these to bring this property up to standard and provide services that are worth the fees charged.

Nightmare at DERWENT DELIGHT: Filth, Spiders

My stay at DERWENT DELIGHT was highly disappointing. The property lacked cleanliness, with dust and grime covering furniture, beds, linens, and carpets. To make matters worse, the property was plagued by an overwhelming number of spiders and cobwebs. Everywhere, there were webs in corners, ceilings & on furniture. This not only created an uncomfortable living environment but also raised serious concerns about the property's overall hygiene and maintenance. We spent around 2-3 hours cleaning cobwebs after a whole day of driving. It was a very unpleasant experience; we found ourselves doing cleaning chores. We dealt with more than 30 spiders from every corner of our sleeping area. The first night was especially difficult for the kids, as they couldn't sleep properly due to the presence of spiders. It made our stay far from enjoyable. [I have photos of all dust and cobwebs.] The malfunctioning lights in the living area and bedroom created a dim atmosphere, posing safety concerns. The toilet door lock added to the discomfort. Outdoor spaces were neglected, filled with dust and cobwebs. Despite a $80 cleaning fee, no cleaning was evident, and the doubled booking rate did not match the property's worth. In conclusion, my experience was a disaster, with filthy surroundings, spiders, faulty lights, and neglected outdoors. I strongly discourage potential guests from choosing DERWENT DELIGHT.

Disappointed!

I recently stayed at Derwent Delight, and I must say that my experience did not quite live up to the advertised expectations. One of the major discrepancies was that the property was described as having two living areas, but it actually had only one. This was a bit disappointing, as we had planned on having separate spaces for relaxation and socializing. Another issue we encountered was with the outdoor sitting area. When we arrived, we found it covered in large cobwebs and very dirty, making it impossible for us to use it comfortably. It was disappointing to see this area neglected, especially since outdoor spaces can be a significant selling point for accommodations. The cleanliness of the shower was another concern. It was not in the best condition, and we had to spend some time cleaning it before we could use it comfortably. This added an unnecessary hassle to our stay. Additionally, we had trouble obtaining the Wi-Fi password from the host. Despite reaching out for this information, we never received a reply. However, on the day of our departure, the host messaged us early to inquire about our departure time, which was a bit perplexing given the lack of responsiveness to our previous inquiries. Overall, while Derwent Delight had the potential to be a pleasant stay, it fell short of our expectations due to the discrepancies between the advertised features and the actual condition of the property. My experience

The heating system was inadequate. It was a 4 bedroom but we were only able to use 2 bedrooms because it did not have any heating in other rooms. Only one very old gas heater in lounge room which you could smell gas and one electric heater. The bedding was quite old and uncomfortable The shower screen in the ensuite was broken and only one shower was usable

outdated and broken

listed as a 4 bedroom, only has a genuine 3 bedroom, had to make up another bed from a spare mattress, the AC remote doesnt work so its a fixed temperature of an unknown. no fly screens so its everything had to be locked up as a hot box. outrageously overpriced for the for the worse place I have ever booked and most heinous decor you could possibly imagine. make sure you dont put the washing machine on, you will become deaf !!

Well located

Good place to stay. Market was nearby and walking distance to the sink hole. Nice clean house, however the toilet seats are dirty. Plenty space for family to move around and good size bedrooms.

Perfect location very clean place.

Perfect location close to everything. House was spotless all linen and kitchen appliances and utensils very clean. A 2 minute drive to feed the possums at night. Everything we needed was close by.

Pleasant stay

Stay was very pleasant. Checking in was easy. Rooms were good sized. Kitchen had basic utensils. Location was additional bonus as it was close to every place we wanted to visit.
