"I arrived at 3:30pm and had to wait outside for 45 minutes to get into the lobby to check in because the staff was gone. Other than that, the hotel was decent for the price."

"Peaks of Otter is a very special lodge off the Blue Ridge Parkway. It’s a great place for a family with Adirondack chairs by a beautiful pond and an easy walking trail. The rooms and restaurant have biews of the pond as well."

"We had the best time at this property! It was close enough to Lexington to enjoy the town and get the things we needed, but far enough away to truly enjoy the beauty of nature. It's is clearly called Deer Ridge for a reason - every morning we were greeted by a heard of deer and we even saw a turkey! The little deer figurine was so fun and we loved taking him with on our adventures. Amenities were absolutely perfect and we all very much enjoyed the hot tub and comfy beds. Communication with the host was incredibly good from booking through check out (and even after, when we realized we left something behind)! Highly recommend this property and these hosts, easily one of our favorite homes we've ever stayed in."

"The room and property as a whole was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The basic amenities like coffee, shampoo, soap, etc. are all standard quality. The hallways and the room smelled a little smokey, but were very clean and no stains on the sheets. I wish that the breakfast included a protein like eggs or sausage, but everything else was good. Parking was free. Overall, a great stay and would absolutely consider staying again if in the area."

"Great location in town, 15 minutes walk to VMI. Clean rooms, nice bathroom, bar and restaurant has a large outdoor space. Breakfast is included, basic but fine."

"The staff was very helpful and friendly. The cleanliness of the room was questionable. Several areas of mildew on the bathroom walls and hair on the floor upon checkin. I definitely think there could be better housekeeping and maintenance. "

"Staff was nice. Bed was awful, had a backache the entire time I stayed. Pool and hot tub had so much chlorine it literally burned my eyes within five minutes. I know it’s a pet friendly hotel but there was a dog across the hall that barked at all hours. I believe the owners were warned but it didn’t stop anything. At what point does pet friendly trump other guests relaxation?"

"Unique Hampton Inn in a beautiful setting and convenient to urgent needs shopping and local hospital. Breakfast staff, especially Casey, was attentive and helpful, but the check-in staff, not so much."
