Sandcastle House Oceanfront Paradise in Fernandez Bay

Sandcastle Cottage is an oceanfront home on a gorgeous white sandy beach on Cat Island. It's a perfect place to relax, enjoy the calm waters, swim, snorkel or kayak to the little island. It's located in Fernandez Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches of the planet, a treasured vacation spot of the island. Conveniently a few minutes drive from the New Bight airport, The Fish Fry and grocery store.
The cottage features a spacious living room with dining area and a well fitted kitchen. The bedroom has 2 full size beds. The cottage has huge double doors and great ventilation supported by several ceiling fans, it is not air conditioned. Washer and dryer makes your stay more comfortable. You find a BBQ as well to prepare your favorite meal Starlink provides internet to stream your favorite movies on the TV. The inflatable floating-chairs will help you to relax and enjoy the water. The two seater kayak and the paddle board will allow you to venture into the neighboring creek with mangroves to watch the turtles and baby rays. The patio is a perfect location to enjoy your meals. You can relax, enjoy your book in a hammock surrounded by a lush tropical garden with coconut palms.
Sandcastle Cottage is adjacent to Hibiscus House, nestled in a very private community of Fernandez Bay. Cat Island is a favorite destination for people looking for a laidback relaxing vacation, away from places frequented by many.
The island accessible by air from Nassau on Western Air or from Fort Lauderdale on Makers Air.
Fernandez Bay is only minutes away from the New Bight airport. Car rentals, like Alvernia Car Rental, provide airport pick up for their customers. It is near to town and has easy access to grocery stores, gas stations, The Fish Fry with many local eateries.
The 48 miles long island is said to be the most naturally beautiful island in the Bahamas.

Spectacular Getaway

If you are looking for a beautiful, serene getaway this is it! The property is exactly as advertised. Comfortable beds, bright big bathroom, full kitchen for all your cooking / bbq needs, plus Marianna had many extras waiting for us on arrival such as coffee/tea, snacks, bottles of water and cold bubbly! Marianna (host) was great with all communication and answered any questions that we had. She arranged a contact to pick us up for the airport (close by), help us grab some groceries and check in with us throughout our stay. Big shout out to Donna ! A bright welcoming personality that kept us smiling all week long :) And to her puppy Babu! The beach is stunning, lounge chairs, beach towels and floaties all available. Kayaked into the mangroves and had a turtle escort us out :) Sunsets did not disappoint. We did pop next door to the Fernandez Bay Resort for a lunch and a dinner (which was excellent) and to the Tiki Bar for the odd refreshment. Also recommend renting a car for a day or two and explore the island. So many beautiful beaches to explore... just watch for potholes, lol. If you're looking for a very laid back, peaceful beach vacation where you are looking just to relax with no fuss, this is it. If the stars align we will be back. Note: if the bugs/mosquito's like you make sure you bring some bug spray for early morning and evenings.

A piece of Paradise 🇧🇸🏝💕

The Sandcaslte in Fernandez Bay on Cat Island was an absolutely amazing place to stay. This hidden gem is a must if you plan to visit Bahamas. Our stay was August 24th- August 31st, 2024. Minutes from the NewBight airport, grocery store, and rental car. We have visited Cat Island in the past but this by far is my favorite place! The beach is pristine and only steps away! The view is absolutely breathtaking. We had coffee every morning outisde on the patio just taking in the view. The cottage has everything from a coffee pot, beach towels, comfortable bed, snorkel gear, paddle board, kayak. You can kayak to the creek or right around the bay for some awesome snorkeling, be lazy and lay in the hammock, or just float around in the bay. The cottage is neatly decorated and the vibe you get is welcoming. Marianna and Victor are the sweetest host. Upon arrival we had a basket of snacks, cold filtered water, and ice in the freezer. I could literally write a novel on this place but you must experience it yourself. Can't wait to go back and without question will stay there again!!!!

Perfection…

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sandcastle Cottage. This is my 3rd trip to Cat Island and by far my favorite location. Staying steps from the beach was truly a dream. The sound of the ocean lulled us to sleep each night. The cottage is clean and comfortable, with cozy beds and in close proximity to a resort restaurant, which was convenient. Though near the resort, the beach felt private and secluded. This was the perfect getaway for a combination of relaxation and adventure! Each day began and ended with a beach walk. We used the kayak and paddle board to visit other secluded beaches close by and paddled past baby turtles and rays in the salt creeks. Then lounged in the hammock, beach chairs, and pool floats. What else could you ask for? All of this in addition to the most hospitable hosts…Marianna and Victor were just wonderful. Our hosts personally welcomed us and gave us a thorough tour of the property and all its amenities. Excellent communication before, during and after our trip. They went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed every moment of our time in Cat Island. Which we did! So much so that we will be coming back in May. We highly recommend a visit to the Sandcastle Cottage. Thanks again Marianna and Victor for such a memorable stay.

Perfect beach house

My husband and I stayed at the sandcastle house for a week in February and loved it. This was our first time to Cat Island although we've been to many of the out islands. Cat is very beautiful and Fernandez Bay could be the best beach on the island due to its cove and protection from the wind. Our hosts were wonderful and helped us with anything we needed and seem to go above and beyond while still giving us space and privacy. The owner was staying in the hibiscus house and the sandcastle house is right on the beach with a nice patio. The house is quite large and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook, and we enjoyed making a lot of our meals right at the house. We grilled steaks one night and got fish from Titto's another night whic was fantastic. The beds were very comfortable and we had plenty of hot water and a great coffee maker. Also very nice Adirondack chairs to watch the small waves roll in. We enjoyed exploring the island and walking several beaches and loved the Pigeon Cay beach. We even traveled to Shanna's cove resort for lunch and had a great pizza. Lunch at Greenwood was nice too. One day we had pretty big storm and lost power so it was nice to be able to walk next door to the Fernandez Bay resort for coffee & wi-fi, and a meal. Thankfully the power was restored quickly. I can't say enough good things about our host Victor! Don't hesitate to book this rental. It is so wonderful and comfortable. We will be back to Cat Island again soon!
