About this property
Muskegon River Front Cabin
The Cabin at the River offers a serene location, great fishing, and kayaking, very close to the public boat launch, and the Cabin can accommodate boat parking. With 20 acres of woods and Michigan Prairie, there is wildlife to observe and trails to hike. But life at the Cabin revolves around one thing: the river. Just a few steps down gives easy access for your fly-fishing adventures for brown and rainbow trout, steelhead and coho salmon. Let the kids explore and find the crayfish. Put your kayak in right from your Cabin, or rent a canoe, kayak, or tube just up the road at Croton Dam and paddle or float by your Cabin to the High Rollaway for easy pick-up. When you aren't on or in the river, you will probably be listening to it or watching it from the Cabin. There is always something happening: Great Blue Herons fly low and strong up and down river twice a day, while Bald Eagles soar above, and kingfishers dive. Flotillas of families float by and wave while you watch from the lawn chairs. Watch the fishermen and women pull out a big one! When the sun sets, grill a steak out on the patio, or build a fire in the outdoor fire pit and toast marshmallows. There is a half flight of stairs to access the Cabin from the parking area. Inside, watch TV if you must (from the two leather Lazy Boys), or pull out a game or a book or a puzzle. You will have a fully stocked kitchen, as this is a home, not just a rental property! Sleeping will be comfortable, whether you snooze in the king bed on the sleeping porch bedroom, or in one of the two twin beds in the rear bedroom, or on the queen sleeper in the living room. The Cabin demands a slower pace than at home, but it is not isolated. Casual restaurants are close, as are great hiking trails, and if you want a longer field trip, Lake Michigan beaches beckon just an hour west, or the best mid size city in the Midwest is just 45 minutes south. But you will probably want to stay and play games on the lawn or see if a walk in the woods, on the marked trails will yield a sighting of the deer, porcupine, or wild turkeys. Relax. You are on Cabin time.

Very relaxing! Great area to stay. Being able to get up in the morning & have coffee while watching the beautiful river right out your back door is very relaxing & renewing.
We had an amazing time! The trails on the property are so nice and being on the river was very fun. Perfect location to go on short drives to different locations and a great kitchen to cook dinners at night. We will be back!
This is the second time we have stayed at the cabin. Had everything we needed and more. If you want to get away for some downtime, this is the place to go. Had a fun day kayaking on the Muskegon river. Took a drive to Lundington on Lake Michigan. We enjoyed our stay!
This house was amazing to stay at. It was the perfect weekend getaway and so relaxing! The river was more than i expected!! We got to fish whenever we wanted in ankle and knee deep water. We caught brown and rainbow trout for dinner! We would 100% stay here again
This is the 3rd time we have stayed here. It is a lovely place. We were looking for peaceful and it certainly is that. It is fun to watch people go by on the river. It is also fun to see all the birds. We saw eagles almost every day! Karen is very easy to contact and helps anyway she can. We do recommend this wonderful, peaceful place.
We stayed here to fish and enjoy some downtime with my daughter and father and it was wonderful. The cottage is cozy and very well stocked with things you’d need for a stay without having to worry! It was a very quiet area and has direct access to the river, which we loved. It was great for my father who is getting older and doesn’t get around as well as he used to. He was able to fish and enjoy the time away without any issues. The locals in the stores and restaurants we visited were very friendly and helpful. If I HAD to pick one thing that could use improvement, it would be the grill was a little rough and could stand to be replaced. Other than that, everything was wonderful. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others!
My wife and I have very busy and demanding lives,, between work, 11 grandchildren, and just life in general....... so, we decided to find a peaceful getaway, and for Karen's cabin on vrbo about 2 years ago, and we stayed a couple nights..... it was such a relaxing and peaceful stay, surrounded by nature and the sound of the river, right from the backyard.... so we booked another stay, and we just got home,,, it was exactly what we needed.... i already can't wait to back a third time..... and all the fishing you can handle, right ftom the yard into the big beautiful river........ i could keep going, but you get it....... out of a score from 1 to 10.... it's a 50... lol..... and the host, Karen is so kind and I'm glad to know her and grateful for her sharing this beautiful and serene property......
Great location with steps into the river. We had good luck with fishing. The nature trail was nice for a early morning walk. Lots of deer wondering through the woods. Every evening the Blue Heron would land for his dinner. We would definitely stay again.
