A lovely country retreat just out of Mt Gambier. Quiet, comfortable and spacious. Fully equipped kitchen. Hearing the birds singing was a joy.

Loved our there, very comfy. Just a couple of things could be improved - The step down into the bath room worried us, we left the light on overnight to remind us. Also the path to our chalet, needs a couple of areas tidied up, as pavers are lifting. Those are OHS issues, as these are big items with older visitors like us. We can't "afford" to have falls. Just an idea as well, If the big mirror was moved or removed, a much larger TV at a lower level would be fantastic. The current position is much to high.

Really disappointed, I travel regularly for work but this was a private weekend away. I was looking forward to the country, quaint cottage and the accommodation was as i expected. I am incredibly disappointed in the fact that the accommodation was supported to include a continental breakfast and yet there was nothing there not even bottled water. There was coffee/sugar sachets and a couple of the milk thimbles but nothing else so after driving 6 hours we had to drive back into townto buy basics. I then received an email with a receipt after i left with todays date as the charge on my card even though i paid in full 23 days ago. No response from my query from the hosts at all, I wanted confirmation that they had not recharged me without authorisation.

The part that stood out was the location. The house was nestled in a grove of trees loaded with native birds. Lots of cockatoos greeted us every morning and evening!

Claredon Chalets are beautifully appointed accomodation meeting all the needs of a family. Thae gardens are brilliant and the birds are highly entertaining. Peaceful country accomodation within great proximity of so many things to see and do.

The room had a very bad odour when we arrived/ we left the screen open to allow fresh air in however this made no improvement. There was no one at reception so we couldn’t request a new room. I believe the smell was possibly a dead possum in the roof ???? Also the carpet was a type of rough hessian material which was very coarse on the feet. Overall a very disappointing stay 😐

Okay - but

Clarendon chalets are a long way from Mt.Gambier. That said they are comfy, and wellish equipped. Biggest issue is poor breakfast. Toast and Vegemite is NOT a "continental breakfast", that requires yoghurt and pastries. Perhaps better for families than couples.

The chalets are very comfortable in lovely surrounds and are very quiet. No traffic or street noise and with breakfast included and did, no parking cost ,was good value. Would be more than happy to stay again. The only "problem " was that there was no mobile coverage and we were unable to connect to the wifi. But this just added to the peace and relaxation.

Great chalet with serene ambience

Spent one night with family. Great location and serene ambience. Chalet was clean and comfortable. Enough room with two separated queen beds. Definitely recommend to anyone visiting Mount Gambier!

Avoid

On arrival, no-one in reception but they left a note. Room provided was not the cottage we had booked & paid for 6 months in advance. Instead, had an older & substandard room from about 30 years ago, woken at midnight by people one of the adjoining rooms who talked loudly for the next hour. Next morning, asked why we had been downgraded. They gave our cottage to someone else at the last minute...."..Oh, didn't we tell you...?". Then attempted to provide us with a small part-refund, but instead charged our credit card MORE.
