"Very happy with our stay at Spa Cottages. This is a building with an interesting history. The layout is a bit quirky but that only adds to the experience. The place was well prepared for our arrival and is very well equipped - plenty of cutlery and tableware - and everything is good quality. As can be seen from the photos, this is a pretty small property but it was fine for our group of five adults for our three-night break. We stayed in March and had a couple of beautiful sunny days so were able to make use of the garden, which has a lovely view. Location is good for most of the popular Cotswold towns. Lower Swell itself is pretty small but it's only a 15 minute walk up to Stow-in-the-Wold, which has lots of pubs and cafes (can't see it from Google maps but there's an easy and safe footpath that runs alongside the road). Overall, a very nice place to stay for a short break. And good comms from the rental agent StayCotswold throughout."

"The heaters didn’t all work. We emailed the host in that regard but didn’t receive a response. The toilet lid was loose in the ensuite and the shower also sprayed water. There was no baking paper or glad wrap. The property was otherwise ok and well located it could just do with some attention to detail. For AUD750/night it would be reasonable to expect a little better."

"The house was really spacious and comfortable and worked very well for our group of two grandparents, four parents and our four children aged 6 to 14. The kitchen had everything we needed to make a Christmas lunch with all the trimmings (double oven, plenty of dishes and oven trays etc) and a dining room table that comfortably fitted us all and crockery and glasses that rose to the Christmas occasion! We appreciated that the house had been tastefully decorated for the festive season. We spent a lot of time in the cosy front room, and also enjoyed various walks from the house, particularly walking up to Stow a few times, and also through to Lower and Upper Slaughter and across the ancient fields at the back as mentioned in the information left in the house. I really appreciated the comprehensive information left by the owner, it really felt as though we were being welcomed to the house and the fact that the time was taken to note how to make the most of the area and tell us about all the ins and outs of everything in the house (maps, walks, best washing machine programmes, etc!) made me feel really welcomed. "Very disappointed with our Christmas break never book with stay Cotswold again The cottage was filthy dirty, all the bedrooms had dead wood lice all over the floors, main bathroom shower was covered in mould, all surfaces in the kitchen were dirty, fireplace hadn’t been cleaned, no wood for fire, a knife had been left outside on a rack in the garden, wine rack buzzed so had to unplug, downstairs toilet kept over flushing making a constant noise all night, the carpets were filthy covered in stains, arrived in the dark, couldn’t find where the key safe was, it was at the back of the Anex wall, very difficult to get to, no lighting. The cottage wasn’t fit for purpose. Ruined our weekend break, spoke to stay Cotswold when we returned, accused me of not telling the manager of the problem, which is a complete lie, never book with this company again"
