"Rooms were surprisingly large and very clean. Location is “Great” just footsteps away from the beach and lots of food options. The breakfast was nice with eggs, potatoes, bacon, and two waffle machines. Staff was extremely pleasant and helpful regarding activities. I would stay again."

"First experience I had was with the lady at PB surf who checked us in but was probably the rudest person I have ever experienced. It was to a point where I had to interrupt her and ask "please do not speak to me in that way" and immediately her tone changed a bit. I can't believe someone with that kind of attitude would work at a front desk. We stayed at the Diamond Head Inn & the drive from PB Surf was not bad at all. DHI was pretty decent but the only bad part was that there was a weird smell coming from the bathroom, possibly the shower drain. We stayed for 3 nights and had to constantly spray air freshner and keep the door closed. Kitchen was a big help and bed was super comfortable. I usually work nights and prefer black out curtains but suprisingly, it did not bother me one bit that there weren't any in the room. Best part of the DHI was location from the beach. You're literally steps away and not paying insane prices as some other hotels charge. Would definitely stay here again. We found parking reserved for the hotel by chance and did not move our car for three days and walked to nearby restaurants and coffee shops. Overall, if it weren't for the first impression of the lady being extremely rude and the bathroom smell, I would give 5/5 for this place. But still, I definitely recommend it!"

"Stepping into the Lobby was awesome. Very tropical. The staff at check-in were very polite, as well as in the gift shop and at Java Lava. Those were the positives. However, we booked this “garden view” room a year ago to celebrate the 4th of July. For what we paid a night, we found the room to be under whelming. It was clean but very dated. Our “garden view” consisted of a balcony over a rooftop looking at the parking structure. Yes, there were palm trees to view but it was not what was claimed online. We also were in the Tower and would have rather been in the two story structure. The Housekeeper had no washcloths to offer. She said they didn’t have any. The toilets are very low- not good for elderly folks. The room has a mini-fridge but no microwave. Popcorn ceilings, no art on the wall and antique style furniture. The prices are outrageous for food and they include a service fee for the kitchen staff, Happy hour at Morays was decent. I would encourage anyone to go to the nearest store and buy food items if you don’t want to overpay for food. We attended the Luau and that was very nice and worth it for the money. We stayed 4 days and we would probably not return unless the prices were lower. It’s in a nice area of San Diego but there are other nice areas that are less money for the stay."

"Your front desk clerk Gray made our stay beyond perfect. She is such a great asset to your property. She was kind and knowledgeable and so helpful. You are lucky to have someone like Gray working for you . Thank you for a wonderful yet all too short stay with you. We will definitely be back to this property or to the shoals !"
