Effortless elegance meet Puglian tradition at this country retreat near the sandy beaches of the Ionian coast.
A homage to the noble traditions of Puglian country living, Casina Elia oozes charm, comfort and understated elegance in equal measure. Fragrant herb-planted gardens greet guests, hinting at the sensory pleasures to come, while the seductive pool encourages repose and relaxation. The intention of the owner, a prominent Italian fashion designer, was to create a stylish retreat imbued with the spirit of her beloved Puglia: the result is a perfect success!
Inside: the main entrance leads into a bright, comfortably furnished living area with a vaulted ceiling in the local cream-coloured stone, a large fireplace that is perfect for the cooler months, and luminous French windows leading out to a shady terrace.
To the right of the entrance is the main double bedroom, featuring a luxurious tub with shower and en-suite WC. Leading off the other side of the living area are a further two bedrooms, both double-twins with en-suite shower rooms. One has access to a shaded terrace and the gardens.
Also off the living room is the contemporary, fully-equipped kitchen which, in turn, accesses the double aspect dining room overlooking the garden. Arched wall-length glass doors bring the outside in during the summer, while another large fireplace makes for cosy dining out of season.
Back in the kitchen, more French doors lead out to the covered al fresco dining area. Furnishings and fittings throughout are of top quality. Local Puglian fabrics, antiques and traditional tiled flooring merge seamlessly with contemporary art, polished concrete floors and rustic-chic elements, striking the perfect balance between modern comfort, ageless charm and aesthetic sophistication.
Outside: Casina Elia is surrounded by beautifully planted and tended gardens. To the front is a fragrant herb garden, featuring a variety of Mediterranean plant and shrubs. To the sides and rear are large expanses of vibrant green lawn, fruit trees and centuries-old olive trees, all of which wrap around the delightful pool.
A shady outdoor dining area is accessed directly from the kitchen and two further furnished terraces (one accessed from the living area, the other from the second bedroom) give guests a variety of options for al fresco lounging.
Last but not least is the panoramic roof terrace, the ideal spot for a sundowner at the end of another blissful day chez Casina Elia!
You may also wish to know that the pool has a single depth of 1.2m.
