"We stayed here four nights before catching a sailing ship. While not luxurious, this hotel was perfect for our needs. The decor was dated but everything in the room was clean. Sheets clean. The mattress was a little firmer than I prefer but fine for short term. No hot water in the kitchen sink or bathroom sink but the hot water and water pressure in shower were wonderful. Daily maid service. Kitchenette had cups, plates, utensils. Bring your own coffee. We brought cone fillets but there were some in room. Fridge kept things cold. No I’ve machine on floor but when asked the clerk got me a small ice bucket full. The pool was clean and refreshing. Desk clerks responded quickly to any requests. It is in a neighborhood. The Marigot market is 0.8 miles away to walk. It took a couple of tries to find best, quickest route. From front door - turn right for a cute bakery open till 6p. From front door go left to a grocery store with plenty of snacks, drinks. Go left to walk to town and follow road to main thoroughfare, go left, then right at Rue de Republic. Then straight to waterfront, market and restaurants. We pulled our suitcases to waterfront to catch boat. It was bumpy but fine. You could take a taxi. Probably 10 euro. "

"Where do we even begin. The home was gorgeous and very well appointed with a fantastic view overlooking the ocean. Lots of nice retractable awnings for shade as well. Julia was a great host. Very responsive and accommodating to all of our needs. The turtles she has in the yard were a big highlight for us. Watching them eat and roam everyday was so fun to watch. She has many of them big and small. The beach is about ten minutes walk from the house to get to friars bay and then another 8 minutes over the mountain to happy bay( worth the walk). Happy bay is the nicest beach we saw by far all over the island. Very serene and quiet and untouched almost by tourism which was refreshing to see. The pool at the villa was great and so refreshing to hop into after long days at the beach. I would 1000% percent stay here again and highly recommend to my friends. Great vacation all around and we are so happy we chose to stay on friars beach vs other more popular beaches. Less hustle and bustle. Thank you Julia for the fantastic stay. You are an amazing hostess! "

"Breakfast needs upgrating, bread stale, maybe having a bit more variety wvery morning would be great. Staff Amazing. Laura, Fritz, Bianca, the chefs, the Jazz guy, Amazing hosts and hospitality. Location is pretty good but always great to Hire a car. You can ask this hotel for hire its great."

"I chose to stay here for my first trip to St. Maarten, and I’m so glad I did. Everything about my stay was absolutely immaculate. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming — especially Ann, who truly made the experience even more special. The property offers stunning views, a peaceful and secluded atmosphere, and plenty of on-site amenities to enjoy. Each morning the guests were treated to a fresh breakfast from a local bakery, which was such a lovely touch. Since the property is located at the top of a mountain, I highly recommend renting a car with a strong engine to make getting up and down easy. Also, the outlets are European, so if you’re visiting from the U.S., be sure to bring an adapter and converter. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting St. Maarten! "

"Everything was in good condition and Judith and Richard went beyond to make our experience excellent. They were more than accommodating to our needs, directions to points of interest, where to eat and the best spots on the island. Highly recommend anyone wanting a St Martin’s experience to stay here. Judith also has a business “Scent of the Art”where to make your own perfume or purchase her amazing art work or jewelry. Everyone should at least visit her shop. "The ratings and reviews are a bit misleading. The hotel is a cute, friendly but very basic hotel in a truly excellent location. You are mainly paying for the location, maybe overpaying. Grand Case is a terrific area for wonderful restaurants and bars, and the beach is very nice. And there are lots of nice little shops. The hotel itself however: it is small only 8 rooms; Most of the rooms open directly to reception or the restaurant and we could hear every conversation at reception through our door; Our room was quite musty smelling--This is common in the tropics and we can live with it, But it is not pleasant; There is no place to hang a hand towel; No place to hang bath towels except maybe the same hook as the robes; the sink mirror is weirdly high so my wife could only see about half of her face (5'4"); The view and balcony were terrific; there is no drinking water except for a fee; Same with coffee; There is no refrigerator. We only ate breakfast in the restaurant. It was very good. But the whole area is known for the variety of restaurants so the restaurant did not win out over other options. I should mention that the beach staff were attentive and we enjoyed the loungers. We would stay again, but not before examining other options since the value was pretty poor."
