Balut is a 14 to 21-day old fertilized duck egg depending on how developed one wants the duck embryo is. Balut is a common street food that has its origins in China. Pateros is the balut-capital of the Philippines. Balut is boiled and then eaten with salt or some spiced vinegar. The way to eat balut: crack the shell, peel it bit by bit, slurp the soup (cooked amniotic fluid of the chick) before eating the egg and embryo. It is a favorite street food in the Philippines as it is cheap and nutritious. Another version for the less squimish is Penoy. It is an unfertized duck egg that is boiled. "I found a cockroach in my bathroom when I first walked in. Aside from that, the hotel is convenient to the airport and surrounding retail options; casino, convenient stores and restaurants, and retail shopping is the main reason to stay here. Breakfast is great as well."
