The older style furnishings and decor were nice. The carpets needed vacuuming.
No hangars in closet. Went down to reception because no phone in room. After getting wire hangers, the service person came into room with phone, but could not find a jack. No tissue in room other than toilet tissue. No alarm clock. Mattress somewhat saggy.
Good coffee in the morning, but had to go down to get it. Good location, but for traveler passing through, I would not recommend it.

No water
After relaxing in my room for about 30 minutes I went to go take a shower before bed. Turned on the shower and there was no water. Not even a drop. Checked the sink and after a few seconds a little bit of water came out but with little to no pressure behind it. Went to flush the toilet and nothing happened. I went downstairs to let them know the water doesn't work in my room. It was at this point they informed me that the waterline was broken. I don't know why this wasn't mentioned befor e I checked in and paid over $100 to stay here. After asking for a refund they told me they could not refund it from there but the
The hotel was very cold and no telephones in rooms and has base heaters for heat also the hotel is very old witch we loved but not for the price we paid . They didn’t have our room we paid for and had to find a room at 3 am
By far the worst hotel I have stayed at. Room was small and crowded. Lighting inadequate. The bathroom was tiny, water in the toilet and shower was brown for a while, the toilet leaked every time it was flushed. Amenities not as advertised, tiny sliver of soap. Overall, hotel was rundown and needs to be completely gutted and renovated.
I am very disappointed that Expedia carries this hotel without a warning and now feel I cannot rely on Expedia-listed hotels.
We arrived at 8:30pm and our suite was only half cleaned. We returned to the front desk. The staff were kind but poorly trained and procedures were disorganized. Facilities were charming but poorly maintained. After a 20 minute wait, we were upgraded to the presidential suite due to our room not being ready.
The presidential suite was beautiful but there were no instructions to use the jacuzzi (couldn't see how to turn it off), the tv, phone, ceiling fans didn't work. There was no in-room temperature control, so we were fortunate enough to not be too hot or too cold that night. It is a charming old hotel, but so sad that it is so poorly maintained and the staff are so ill prepared and unprofessional.
The hotel is a historic building that is unfortunately poorly maintained. The staff tried to be accommodating but are poorly trained. Employee uniforms are not professional. Guest room was small, bathroom inadequate, small sink and lack of towels, should have at least three bath towels in each bathroom. Elevator tracks were really dirty, no hair dryer in the room or any modern conveniences. TV was new and worked well. Location to the college is great everything else was subpar. Breakfast facilities did not open until 9:30am which for weekend guests who need to be someplace did not work. Since my son attends W&J I have been to most of the hotel sin the area and this would be my least desirable to return.
Room was dreary with inadequate lighting and worn out dark carpeting. Weekday breakfast not available until 7:30 with cook also having to wait tables since waitress didn't arrive until 8:00. Free parking near the front door of the hotel was quite helpful.

Outdated; clean
Outdated but clean. Worn chair upholstery. Ridiculously small bathroom. Nowhere to put toiletries. No carpeting in the hallway meant unnecessary hallway noise. Cords hanging from the TV and extension cords around the room- needs updating. Wireless didn't work with my phone. Ancient elevator. No ghost. Bed was comfortable. Staff very nice. I slept well after the other guests shut up. Coffee was lousy.

Bad service. Icompitent staff.
We were left waiting outside the hotel for 15 minutes in the cold. We could see the front desk was unmanned and could hear the phone ring each of the 8 times we tried calling to have someone open the door. When we finally got inside the woman at the front desk could not figure out how to check us in. We waited for 20 minutes until she finally agreed to just let us in our room to sleep (it was after 1am). The room was sparse. Only a bed, a single nightstand and a dresser. No chair to sit on and nowhere to set down a suitcase. It felt like a cheap hostel.
From our first impression on entering the main lobby and its early architectural character to the fine dining experience at the wedding reception held on the premises, quality was what it was. I have traveled to many hotels around the world and this is worth staying at. The rooms were clean and vintage like fine wine. The staff at the front desk, waiters, waitresses, chef all were among the best I have experienced in my many years of traveling. I had the privilege of talking with a permanent guest at the hotel who has lived there for 28 years. I said it must be beautiful at Christmas in the main lobby and she said it was. And, she told me of a train exhibit just off the lobby that is popular then. I asked if it was there now and she said she thought it was. After she left, I asked the main desk if indeed there was a train exhibit behind a locked door. I was assured there was and would I like a private viewing of it. How wonderful and accommodating everyone was. This is a must visit, must stay , must see and experience. The George Washington hotel reminds me of the time of the Great Gatsby. I'll be back.
The thermostat was set to 53 degrees and even after it was set to 70 degrees the temperature in the room never adjusted. I was up at 1:45 am and went to the desk and the desk clerk finally came up and shutdown the system from a thermostat under and only under their control. We would never stay there again
No hair dryer. Noisy window air conditioner. Overpowering scent of air freshener. Inconvenient parking. No phone in the room. Small TV. No space in bathroom for toiletries.
A creepy old hotel with blue paint and big, cheap furniture. Never again.
Old "Hotel" and part tenement housing. Website makes it look much better than it is.

A UNIQUE STAY
We arrived late and were immediately greeted, checked in and helped up to oure room by a very friendly and accomodating gentleman. The room (we were told, was once slept in by The Monkees) was spacious and clean with a beautiful view of Washington, PA. The next morning we were checked out by another chap who was even more helpful. He shared with us some of the hotels rich history i.e. The Beatles, JFK, RFK and many others who stayed there. We love that kind of stuff and as such had a great time.
Probably the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. To advertise it as a luxurious hotel is joke. It has about 15 parking spots and one of the desk clerks was about as helpfull as a ashtray on a motorcycle. Wil never stay there again. Would rather sleep in my truck!!!!!!
Disappointment: Our Stay at the George Waashington
The room was disappointing, the lighting (ceiling and bedside) were extermely low wattage. We had no telephone in our room(this caused concern if 911 was needed) The bed was extermely hard and uncomfortable and the pillows extremely soft. There was no access to
ice machines....the list could go on. Verall, I was really disappointed bythe George Washington Hotel and will never stay there again or recommend it to anyone

The George Washington Hotel is as old as George
While it is a great location and a very historical hotel, it is in desperate need of maintenance and cleaning. The bedding was not clean, the floors were dirty and the TV was actually a wall mount 15" flat panel, which could hardly be seen from anywhere in the room.
Interesting hotel, but my price seemed to more than double over other guests. The door to my room would not lock, so I was a bit uncomfortable all night. Room was very clean.

Days of Old - Historic Hotel Building
While its convenient to downtown Washington PA and located right across from the county court house, this hotel is not up to modern standards for a business traveler. The building is under renovation and still has a ways to go to be of the style it mught have been in its hey day of the late 20's. Lots of hints at the character of its former glory - large lobby and grand staircase, but the details are not inspiring nor recently painted. Rooms are large and are quite comfortable with new furnishings and the basics are there. Missing are things like - enough electric sockets to plug in your phone charger or laptop conveniently, a hair dryer in the bath, a shelf to put your things next to the pedestal sink, etc. The staff was pleasant overall, but not the types you find in most good hotels. Breakfast was a real issue as there is none offered and the closest was a car ride away. Coffee in the lobby was free, however. Don't expect to eat in the hotel for dinner either as the restaurant and bar are one and the same and although the pizza was good, any other menu item was "let me see what we have in the frig".....So in total, a very convenient location for a brief stay, but not a showplace and not too with the times as far as the modern business traveler's needs. Perhaps those visiting the nearby college of Wash and Jeff might find the missing pieces at the campus and this would be a good low cost stay a few walking blocks away.

No Impresssed
The historic hotel was very historic - the only thing that people should be aware of is the the hotel is rougly 5 stories and only two have hotel rooms - the rest are apartments of some sort. So the feel of the hotel is definately not as I expected.
