Amazing stay at Hunters Country House

Absolutely fabulous. From the check in with welcome drinks and a tour of the property. Fabulous restaurant where the chef takes the utmost care to address food allergies. The staff were all amazing. The place is beautifully presented. Highly recommend.

The gardens at Hunters are spectacular! Just know if you stay in rooms one or two, they have a smell of mold because they are historic. The smell was unpleasant, but not enough to make us second guess our choice to stay at Hunters. Travis, who manages the property, did an excellent job of making us feel welcomed and cared for in every way! The dining options on the property are fantastic! The location is very convenient for adventures during the day.

Booked to stay here for 2 nights after reading the reviews and we are so glad we did. From the moment we checked in and being greeted in the lounge with a drink and then being escorted to our room was such a nice touch. The grounds are beautiful and we wished we could have just stayed here for the 2 days and relaxed but we had plans in Knysna and Plettenberg. We had dinner in Zinzi and thoroughly enjoyed it and the breakfast was very good. The best thing about Hunters is their staff though. I wish I had made a note of all the names but Golli who greeted us was so lovely as was Ace when we had drinks by the firepit. Our breakfast waitress was amazing too but I did not get her name. We will definitely be back as loved the place.

An exceptionally high standard of personalised service and a housekeeping team who are truly second to none. We loved the breakfasts, the tranquility of the estate, the visiting birds, and the peace of our garden cottage. The only thing we didn't enjoy was waiting for 40 minutes for our dinner reservation at Sage, particularly as the table had been booked weeks in advance.

This is a nice property in general (very well maintained gardens, nice pool) and staff was very welcoming. However, our room was a bit run down, furniture beat up and carpet with many stains. It was cold outside when we were there (September) and the only way to heat the room was a wood burning fireplace which was not my cup of tea.

Breathe out and relax !

No denying the location and grounds of this property are awe inspiring ! Totally beautiful. The whole area and overall experience gorgeous. However rooms are getting very tired and facilities within the rooms tired and in need of a more high end makeover. That being said it sort of adds to the charm. Luckily they have a new GM Annelle and I think she will shake things up a bit. She sorted a service/communication issue out for us magically ..

Overall we had a pleasant stay at Hunters. The grounds are stunning, the restaurants on the complex are fab and all of the staff were excellent and very attentive. However I do think it was slightly overpriced and could do with a bit of a make over. Our room was right next to the breakfast courtyard (basically in the courtyard) which gave for very little privacy in the morning when guests were eating out there. It was also incredibly noisy with a water feature that ran constantly, day and night. The thatched roof provided little soundproofing. I know we booked the entry rate room but for a 5* hotel and the price we paid, you don’t expect that. The room was also quite cold and the heater didn’t seem to give off much heat, so not sure how pleasant it would be in the winter.

Huisjes op prachtige locatie. Mooi zwembad. Met fitness. Bij kritisch kijken inrichting lodge gedateerd. Heeft een modernisering nodig. Stoelen, bank zitten slecht. Niet meer van deze tijd. Restaurant voor ons te quasi chic. Graag een beetje relaxter aub. Eten prima. Mismatch met muziek. Waarom zwaar klassiek bij ontbijt/diner. Laat het ns genieten van de vogelgeluiden en ander geruis. Maw prachtige plek maar er mag wel vernieuwingsslag gemaakt worden op meerdere aspecten.

Wie vor 100 Jahren...

Die Anlage ist wunderschön und alles sehr gepflegt. In den Räumlichkeiten fühlt man sich 100 Jahre zurückversetzt. Ein wunderbarer Ort zum erholen. Das Personal ist sehr aufmerksam. Das Essen ist fantastisch. Leider waren wir nur zwei Tage vorort. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Lovely grounds, feels like having your own little countryside cottage among lush vegetation. The cottages might seem a little dated, rustic rather than luxurious. Service and attention to detail could have been better. Overall a pleasant stay but overpriced.

A little piece of heaven. The grounds, the rooms, the food, the team, everything was amazingly perfect. From little surprise touches (that I won't ruin for others) to the fun and beauty of the team. This is not a hotel, this is an experience and it should not be missed. We joined for honeymoon and hope to jo you again for a special anniversary or to renew our vows, if we are lucky. Highly recommend Zianos, which again was amazing. Thank you xx
