The hotel is beautiful and very peaceful. It is located outside of Porto and it’s quite a distance to walk into the city. However, the hotel does operate a free shuttle bus once a day, but book a slot early as it tends to fill up. Alternatively, you can get an Uber for about 6 Euros into the town. The breakfast selection is very good and the food in the restaurant was of a really high standard.

Beautiful hotel & a wonderful taste of luxury for us. The only issue was the location, which I hadn't researched properly before booking. The hotel offer a free service into the city late morning with a pick up early eve, otherwise it's taxi's. Be sure to download and use the uber app. it works well and makes taxi's much more affordable. The drivers and service we had were all v good.

Pamper yourself in style!

Such a beautiful hotel. They make you feel so special. This hotel is very elegant and you are treated like royalty. The breakfast was amazing as was the dinner we had in the hotel restaurant.
The tables had mirrors so you can see the beautiful ceilings.

Palace on the River

Absolutely beautiful Palace and grounds. Located on the Douro River, with a scenic drive though mountains and valleys to the Douro Valley, which was magical!

Gorgeous historical home turned luxury hotel. Attentive staff; massive, high quality breakfast buffet; free shuttle to town (although it was always full or not going when we needed to. But Uber to town is 4-5 Euros (meter taxi was double, so do the Uber). Five minute drive to charming Porto’s historical city center. Fall in love with Porto and the Palacio do Freixo!

A little bit of heaven on earth just outside the city centre of Porto. But Uber brings you everywhere. Amazing location, building and facilities. Only thing, the food can be a bit more adjusted to the standards of nowadays.

This is a lovely place to stay and the staff were very accommodating. I was however, promised a room when I checked in with a view of the river and I received a room with a view of the parking lot which was disappointing. A free shuttle can take you into town and the staff who drive you are pleasant and humble. Definitely a beautiful place to stay. Make sure to make a dinner reservation with a view on the river where the lights will glimmer as you sip your wine!

Very nice property. Beautiful property on the river. Shuttle bus available to take to/from City Center every couple of hours. Walked back once, but it's a couple of miles (maybe 3 or 4 km). Had very nice meal in restaurant one night. Porto and surrounding area is a terrific place to visit.
