I really enjoyed my stay at Selina Quito. The main floor has a bar that serves food and drinks, as well as a fuse ball table and a connected room with a pool table. There is also a main area with a piano and a couch. On weekends, a DJ would play music in the evening.
The hotel staff were extremely friendly -- probably my favorite part of our stay! They advised us on where to eat, where to go in Quito and helped us book tours. When we were desperately trying to find a tour to go to Cotopaxi on one specific day, one of the staff members called around to various travel agencies and found a tour for us at a reasonable price.
The rooms were comfortable and very clean.
I DO NOT recommend staying at Socialtel Quito. When I arrived, the staff informed me that the hotel would soon be without power. The place felt like a ghost town—nearly empty, with only a few staff members around. None of the listed facilities were available, and breakfast was not offered, despite being advertised.
It was clear the hotel is in the process of closing, yet they are still accepting reservations without warning guests about the situation. The uncertainty and lack of security made me feel unsafe, and I decided to leave after just one night.
Travelers deserve transparency and basic services. This experience was disappointing and stressful. I hope others are warned before booking here.
Was really looking forward to staying at a Selina property given the positive feedback I had heard from friends. Immediately upon arriving (after a long journey) I found there to be no hot water in the shower. This was not fixed for 24hrs. I also expected the staff to be more friendly/community focused however this was not the case. I was never invited to the whatsapp group even though I requested to be added and ultimately, will never stay at a selina again. Hostels provide a much better hostel experience and hotels provide a much better hotel experience. While Selina strives to be the best of both, it falls completely short of achieving that goal. Note, my friend checked-into this same Selina location yesterday and (a) they gave him the wrong room upon check-in even though his reservation had been made, and paid for, weeks in advance and (b) he also did not have hot water for a day.
This is a cool, beautifully designed hotel in a hip part of Quito. They have a lot of tours and activities and really helpful people working there. Breakfast was simple but good. The room was clean, the shared bathroom was clean, and the shower was nice. The coworking space is also great.
The only negative thing is that I didn't get really good wifi in my room. It was enough to send some messages and browse but I had to either go to the coworking space or to the lobby to get faster internet for video calls. I think it may depend on what floor they put you on.
Muito bonito, limpo, localização boa, funcionarios atenciosos, estive durante a pandemia, viajando sozinha, foi otimo, me senti segura quanto aos protocolos de segurança COVID.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, that was the best part. The room was nice enough but the water didnt work most of the time (no shower, no flushing toilet, not able to wash hands). There is significant plumbing issues in that building and I was only able to take one "hot" shower in 2 days. The bath towels smelled moldy and it did not appear that the room was super clean upon entering (I did my own sanitizing of the room). Also, you can hear a pin drop from outside the room. Very noisy which is typical for Quito streetside rooms but the hallways were very noise and it was hard to relax being able to hear every thing happening in the hallways and even rooms adjacent to mine.
Es mi lugar preferido, excelente ubicación y comodidad.

I like the yoga room on the ninth floor with the big windows and panoramic view of Quito. The workspace on the eighth floor is great. I didn’t like that Kelly the concierge once called me a “ho” in the elevator or that I fell into a three hour sleep multiple times after each breakfast. I stopped eating their breakfast and that stopped. Even if the CIA does have a hit on me, that’s not appropriate to cooperate with them. I am actually not a prostitute. I’m a law- abiding visitor in a foreign country. There should be a no smoking policy. My apartment rental was delayed for repairs, otherwise I would Have left sooner. In Quito there are Lavenderias, where someone will do your regular laundry FOR YOU. There were people staying for months in Selina and there wasn’t a washer dryer so they could have the privacy of washing their own clothes. This is weird to me. It’s common here.
I liked the yoga room on the 9th floor had a panoramic view of Quito. I liked the 8th floor workspace. There isn’t a nonsmoking policy. I stopped eating breakfast because I felt drugged and passed out for 3 hours after after a series of breakfasts. A staff member called me an expletive once in the elevator.
The value. The rooms clean and I switched my room to that with a balcony and great view, and then got a free breakfast upgrade. There’s an awesome exercise room with a panoramic view and ample workspace.
There was a gas leak at the property and everyone had to be evacuated for many hours. The smell of gas was everywhere and the hostel was not fit habitation, even after they said it was safe to return. I have attempted to contact the manager regarding a refund as we had to change hotels, I still have not received a response and reception is not able to assist me.
