"I want to make it clear I enjoyed my stay at the Vurpillat. The room itself was lovely, spacious, and right next to the beach. I did however have a couple qualms about the management of the establishment. When we came to check in there was nobody at the front desk to check us in for the first 30 minutes. I was in contact with the person who eventually came, but I can't help but feel this was unacceptable. The hotel was also unlocked the entirety of the night and while the man at the front desk assured me the area was safe, when we went to check out at 8am there was a homeless woman sleeping in the lobby, mere feet away from our room. I saw some security there during daytime hours but there didn't seem to be anyone working overnight. I liked the aesthetics of the hotel and would recommend the room as the location was great and street parking was provided, just know what you're signing up for. "

"A lovely little place to stay. Limited amenities on site but excellent location, close to so much. Be aware that there’s a mandatory daily parking rate. But the staff are lovely, the rooms charming, and the location can’t be beat."

"Apartment Deluxe is the largest unit with one bath room that can room 6 people. Bathroom is somewhat updated bath not the shower head. Entry door outdated."

"Here's what happened: I arrived late, nearly 1:00 a.m., exhausted. I'd prepaid the room, but I had to give a card for a hold. The clerk had trouble with the processing system, it took a while, then he said it was OK. I went to sleep. Then at 3:00 a.m., the phone rang: the clerk, telling me that my card hadn't gone through, I need to fix it in the morning. What an insane thing to do! There were so many other ways for this clerk to solve this problem of his own making, beginning with ignoring it; it wasn't an actual problem. But how could anyone think that calling a guest at 3:00 a.m. is the right answer? Then the next night, from 2:00 a.m. to 3:00, one guest intermittently yelled at another from the hallway. Now THAT was a problem that the clerk needed to solve, but didn't. This is a cheap hotel, and I wouldn't leave a review to complain about cheap-hotel drawbacks--the sickly sweet disinfectant stink, the grimy sandpaper-esque towels, the icky fabrics, the horrible decor, the untenable "breakfast," the questionable cleanliness. That's all what I paid for, I guess. But I also paid for a place to sleep for two nights, both of which were ruined--in fact my whole trip was ruined--by things in control of the staff. This place is HORRIBLE."
