Brigadoon: Panoramic Ocean Views, Easy Beach Access

Brigadoon is a charming oceanside home situated just three lots back from the sparkling Atlantic. Guests will enjoy easy access to the beach and panoramic ocean views from the top level great room. Bed and bath linens are always included at no extra charge, and the beds will be made with fresh sheets and pillowcases prior to your arrival. The town of Rodanthe is the ideal setting for a laid back, slower-paced vacation while still having conveniences and dining options nearby. If you need a break from the beach, take a trip back in time at the Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station Museum. Reel in the catch of the day from the Hatteras Island Fishing Pier, or enjoy the other side of the island with a variety of watersport activities in the Pamlico Sound.

Please note that the daily effects of winds, waves, tides and storms have contributed to coastal erosion impacts at Cape Hatteras National Seashore, particularly adjacent to the villages of Rodanthe and Buxton. The effects of erosion in these towns result in dynamic and unpredictable changes to the dune line, which may unexpectedly affect beach access. Guests may need to utilize alternate beach access points during their stay.

We really enjoyed our stay! The house is very clean, spacious, and in a lovely neighborhood. It has a great view of the ocean and a very short walk to the beach (1/2 block). We spent most of our time in the kitchen and living room area because it is so roomy, bright, and comfortable. The huge decks are a bonus to lay out or to enjoy the evenings. We would definitely stay here again.

Great Location, Great View, Not-So-Great Realty

We highly recommend this property as a quiet and gorgeous location for an adult week at the beach. The incredible view from the top floor great room and the sound of the ocean at night was well worth being a little further away from restaurants and businesses than our usual stays in the Outer Banks. The living room was very comfortable, with a nice kitchen and a deck on each level on which to sit and watch the waves. However, be prepared for no response or a delayed response from the realty if you have any questions or problems. We left a total of three phone messages with the realty before and during the stay (there were some maintenance and cleaning issues) and the realtor never called us back. We were able to get through on the VRBO app, but it took them about 48 hours each time we messaged to get back to us. So it was a bit of a trade-off, but overall worth it to us.

Time for a makeover

House was pretty old and needs updating. Here are some issues we saw:1. Upper bathroom had faucet spraying water. 2. Mattress in left bedroom close to ocean needs replacing as it sags in the middle. We felt like we were sleep on a hill. 3. We saw a cockroach in the right ocean view bedroom.4. Dining chairs were probably from the 70’s. 5. Paper toilet holder in lower bathrooms were broken. 6. No beach chairs for renters or dust pans to sweep. 7. Games were missing pieces and instructions were missing. 8. Toilet upstairs won’t flush unless you hold it for 10 secs.9. Extra blankets would be nice.10. Deck had nails popped up so you have to wear shoes. Very minimally provided and doesn’t make you feel like staying or coming back.
