"Arrived back to my room to find the entire corridor had lost power no working sockets, meaning no TV, no kettle, no way to charge devices. Spoke to another couple on the same floor experiencing the same issue. Called the hotel and was told the nearest staff member was approximately 1 hour 45 minutes away in Edinburgh and to speak to reception in the morning. I ended up sitting in the breakfast area charging my phone, which isn’t exactly what you expect from a paid stay. When I raised it, I was told the power had likely tripped due to the storm and that “someone must have plugged something in they shouldn’t have”, yet nothing was done about it despite them identifying the probable cause. I was also told that they’re “a guesthouse, not a hotel” and I was the only one who complained by quite a defensive member of staff the next morning and therefore don’t offer 24/7 cover. Interesting you’re charging hotel prices over a bank holiday weekend. You can’t market yourself as one thing and downgrade your responsibilities when something goes wrong. Towels were also lacking and the TV had issues beyond the power outage by not being securely attached, I couldn’t use it anyway. The location and setting are lovely, but the service fell well short of what you’d expect for the price. A hotel (or guesthouse, sorry), should have basic contingency arrangements in place, especially over one of the busiest weekends of the year. Awaiting a reply to get my refund, I would imagine others are too."

"Lovely B and B with a beautiful clean room and friendly owners. Good breakfast in the morning. Plenty of hot water. Room 1 has fabulous views over the fields and across to the sea and a nice big bath. Thanks for a lovely stay."

"The Cottage was comfy and really well equipped, spotlessly clean and only a few minutes walk from shops and the beach. Great communications in advance.Enjoyed the woodburning stove and the peace and quiet. Would definitely come back here again."

"Great location just yards from the beach, as base for visiting nearby attractions such as bamburgh castle and Cragside. Rocky in parts but otherwise golden sand beach and again short walk to Seahouses. Just lovely seaside resort. Hotel staff friendly and food excellent with choice of dining room or lounge to relax. Would stay again."

"Instructions were very clear, property in ideal location for the cafes, restaurants etc in Bamburgh. Ample parking available on the road or in provided space behind the property. Apartment very clean, with extensive appliances provided and v good size kitchen. Ideal for a short break "

"The floors downstairs were extremely slippery and out dog was hurting herself walking on them. Luckily, we had 5 rigs and some dog blankets with us so she could as be able to move about. The downstairs is all open plan and so nowhere to put the dog (eg the kitchen) without her having access to the lunge and dining areas. The hob was dirty down one side and the control dials numbers were illegible, so it was difficult to set it at the required temperature. The only way to get hot water was to press a button in a cupboard in the dining area to boost which only went on for half an hour. This was mentioned in the literature but I have never been in any previous cottage where there was not immediate hot water and the boost would only be needed if you had used a huge amount of hot water. The door to the ensuite was so stuck my husband thought that the handle was going to come off when he opened it. North Easy Escapes did offer to come and fix it. The upstairs shower had a warning that the shower was slippery when wet but there was no shower mat so impossible to use safely. I put a hand towel down in the downstairs shower, so it was ok. Out daughter and family were meant to be joining us but we felt it was not safe for a 3- and 7-year-old and so we only stayed one night out of 5 booked – which made a very expensive one night break! "
