Bring cash for the 20$ deposit
Also the staff is not very professional , they were rude to me and wouldn't take in my feedback and threatened to refuse me service just because i gave them feedback on their rude language when I was checking in.
Also it can get very cold into the rooms. Hence prepare accordingly. But Hey, you get what you paid for I guess. I have stayed in other hostels in the same payment ranges but they all had a helpful staff and they were professional.
Also if you plan on coming with a car, there is no parking, be prepared to pay for garage parking around 40$ for 24hrs , 30$ for 12 hrs , its close by , 5 min walking distance.
MY HUSBAND GOT EATEN UP BY BED BUGS!!!! super tiny room with nothing but a bed and a mirror which is fine since we stayed one night but oh lord those blankets were thin and full of bed bugs. and there’s no bathroom inside the room, every floor has 2 bathrooms to share with the other guests so know that you might have to wait. would not stay here ever again!
BEWARE, AVOID BOOKING TO THIS PLACE IF YOU DON"T WANT TO RUIN YOUR VACATION!
The Manager who runs this place is extremely rude and outright unprofessional.
I arrived late at night, I can tell he was irritable because I arrived an hour before he closes his place. He earlier warned me on the phone that he will not wait for me beyond 10 pm and ALL my money will not be refunded. When I asked about checking out early, he got very mad and kicked me out of the place and only partially giving my payment. This guy is a thief .All the negative comments written by the guests about him are TRUE so do not fall for this guy. There are better places to stay in a better location for almost the same price. Don't be fooled by the name EUROPEAN hostel. In any way does it not look and feel European at all. It smells HORRIBLE and the location is dangerous. You will regret ever staying here and BELIEVE all the negative comments that were written to this disgusting place.
Before you book …PLEASE Note that there's a clause stating that they are renting to people 30and under a have the right to refuse not to book people over 30 years old as I was told by the Front Desk Attendant….
I would give this 0 stars if I could. Upon arrival the property was filled with homeless people. The property is in a very bad area of San Francisco and the pictures are out of date and misleading. The property smelled of urine and feces and the rooms were dirty. There was black dirt and debris all over the bed. You were provided a fitted sheet to put on yourself - over the unwashed and absolutely filthy mattress cover. You are provided one towel to reuse throughout your stay. The bathrooms were disgusting and hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. The doors lock but people can go in and out of the room at all hours of the night - with homeless people lurking around. The kitchen and communal areas were dirty and full of bugs and rodents. The front staff was rude and refused to provide a refund (after saying they would refund through Expedia)
The front desk man was very nice and helpful, even gave me my refund when I left early. The walk up to it is so sketchy I felt very unsafe outside.
However there were roaches downstairs in the kitchen and the sheets made me itch the bathrooms were gross and shared with everyone on that floor and don't have curtains and you can see right into the next buildings. I had things stolen from my stuff and I had it locked. There's only 3 lockers in a room of 6 ppl. And the whole room stank, all in all my first hostel experience is terrible I left after one night.

The bed sheets were dirty, room does not look like the picture at all, no space for clothes and other belongings. Tweakers screaming all night nobody came to check in on us. The windows were covered by another unit 😂. What a joke of a place. Avoid at all cost unless u are there just for sleep. Even the bathroom situation is a nightmare. Shared unsanitary bathroom with non isolation from shower to toilet all in one room.

My stay was 5 nights and I do not have any major complaints. The people I roomed with were nice and we did not get into each other's spaces. The room was relatively clean, just a few things from my roommates, but it does get pretty warm in there if you do not have your window open often. But gets cold if you leave it open during the night. Beds were comfy enough and the space provided to hold my belongings were perfect for my small luggage. The overall space of the room was a little smaller than expected for up to 6 people but if you're organized it will definitely work.
As for the bathrooms, there were a couple times where we ran out of toilet paper so maybe staff should be more aware of that. Possibly an investment in toilet seat covers would be great as well. The shower wasn't super dirty, minus the little bit of hair left, and the water got to really hot and cold temperatures which I really appreciated!
I did not use the kitchen really so I cannot comment much on it but when I was in there for a short time I seen a few bugs roaming. Not exactly sure which bug but none should be present at all.
Overall, my stay was fine. I was only there to shower and lay my head for the convenience of a short trip to work. So, if you plan to use the place as a stopping point while you are traveling or need to shower and sleep this would be perfect for a cheap option. The stay was worth/equaled the price compared to many other places in SF.
Side note: Do not recommend a car. Buses close
