I normally don’t leave reviews but I wanted to shout this place out. I was a lil remiss to stay here do to some of the reviews but I’m also cheap when I’m working on the road. This place and the people that work here are great. Yes the place is older and has that old school Florida motelllll vibe when you pull up. It definitely seems to be family run but the gentleman that checked me in was very nice 50$ cash deposit and a real key to the room. Inside it was perfect. Window unit worked great had the room cold in no time and most importantly it was clean. Room looked newer on the inside that the outside. Again it was everything I needed it to be clean, cold quiet no bugs of any kind like some had mentioned. Shower had great pressure and was hot. If you’re looking for the high amenities stay and at the Westin. If your looking for clean cheap just to sleep this is your spot.
the staff is great (penny and Paul). can say enough about them and their great support. Place has seen better days about 50 years ago. it is clean and no frills. wifi is sketchy at best. Go across the street and get the name brand hotel wifi pw. That wifi works. glad i didn't need to do anything online! i think the area is ok. close to Bradenton and Sarasota. traffic is pretty bad too may vec and the stop lights every 500 ft. too bad fl drivers don't know green means go. clean place to sleep and not really wifi.
First, the charged my card before I ever got there. They charged the full amount. I thought it was weird because no one’s ever done that before.
The front desk lady was rude and couldn’t look like she hated her life more. There was so many signs and little rules all over the plastic hanging between you and front desk. Most importantly being that you have to call them 5 minutes before you check out so they can come up to the room and look at it. By the way, there is no phone in the rooms. Thankfully, the front desk person in the morning was very nice and told me not to worry about it. I think he was the owner.
We got a physical key and it didn’t lock the deadbolt, just the handle. The door locking mechanism was wobbly and had definitely been kicked in before. Didn’t feel very safe there, though nothing happened. Honestly, if I had known they had weekly rates, I wouldn’t have stayed here.
I was also surprised that there weren’t any bugs in my room. That’s not something you’re usually happy about at a hotel.
I do like that the check in was at 3:00 pm and check out was at 11:00 am because most places are 4:00 pm and 10:00 am.
And the AC was on the far wall where the closet was, as far from the bed as you could get. It was so hot in there that we decided to leave it going, then get something to eat and hoped it cooled the room down by the time we got back.
I have never seen nor experienced a more dirtier place in my life. It doesn’t even deserve a single star but that’s the lowest I can do. I am doing this only because I don’t want another father daughter to stay in a place this dirty. The bathroom door doesn’t close because it’s all crooked and broken. That’s not the worst! The water that comes out of your faucet smells like sewer. Imagine trying to wash your face with that. Trying to sleep is almost impossible. The doors feel like they are not there at all and all you hear is traffic outside. Then I set on the bed an it folded in half, my feet were hanging in the air. Me and my daughter were crying and laughing at the same time. The front desk is a little box and right outside there is a shelf about 5 feet and that’s your breakfast area. One guy was standing there eating something and I had to avoid bumping into him. They have this little stickers warning signs covering the little glass board separating the front desk and where you stand with bunch of rules. Lady that worked there gave me the scariest look I have ever received. Her dress code is sad and I feel bad even trying to describe her presence. Man who checked us in was nice but good lord he also looked the same as I checked in when we checked out next day around 10! All I can say is. I will stay a way from places like this and I will never trust the pictures that are posted.
