Really special chateau - wonderful group venue

This is a beautiful chateau and we loved our time here. The bedrooms are all very spacious and comfortable and the communal areas work perfectly for a group gathering. The swimming pool is a wonderful feature. I highly recommend the property. We have rented many chateau over the years in France and this is one of our favorite.

Incredible place to stay.

Hired the chateau with 30 friends who have not seen each other in a long time. This was one of the most beautiful places I've ever stayed at; I honestly never thought I'd stay somewhere as grand. The communication was great and the photos don't do it justice. All the rooms are ensuite and there's a lot of social space for everyone. The hardest bit was getting everyone together in one place! Thank you for a lovely stay :)

A great chateau for a weekend reunion - just over an hour from beautiful Nantes!

The chateau was spotlessly clean and perfect for a weekend reunion with friends. All 18 (ensuite) bedrooms were made up beautifully with towels and shower gel left for each guest. Communication with the property owner/manager was ok however I thought I would leave the following notes for anyone looking to hire the property in the future. - There are both coffee filter and pod machines available in the chateau (many of the bedrooms have coffee pod machines I them too!) - The chateau is well equipped with a large number of glasses, crockery, serving dishes etc. There are two fridges in the kitchen and a family-size cooker/hob area. The kitchen is small - we were glad we had organised local caterer Caroline Board (Toc Toques/Natnes) to prepare dinners in her catering kitchen close by and deliver the food warm to us. Don't miss out on Caroline's food - it is incredible! - There is a food storage/prep area in -1 of the chateau that you can park outside of and unload groceries. In this room there are two large fridges also. The elevator is useful for moving groceries between this area and the kitchen on the ground floor. - Wi-Fi was unavailable to us during our stay (Fri-Monday) which meant we all really switched off however if this is important to you/your group it would be worth checking with the property - Check in was a more pleasant experience than check-out - make sure to leave time for the property manager to check every room as you wait to leave! He was unhappy that the windows were left open in many of the bedrooms (they had not advised to close them) - so worth noting! - Huge E.Leclerc and UDrive located close by. We completed a click and collect order from UDrive Segre 5 days before arrival. The staff couldn't have been more helpful with this and had everything ready for pick up (including substitute items if things were out of stock). - Domestic waste can be disposed of on site however you will be required to bring all other waste (bottles, cans, cardboard) to a recycling centre in the local village. Luckily we had two cars to keep on top of this but it is a consideration to keep in mind! - The pool and the area surrounding is beautifully kept and was an amazing addition to our weekend of blue skies and warm sunshine. The chateau grounds are gorgeous with peacocks roaming around and farm animals located a few steps from the chateau. A great place to relax with friends. Thanks René!

Spectacular and charming tranquility

We were a group of 19 musicians from the age of 11 to 18 with 9 adults. This was a beautiful place for us to stay, completely undisturbed. With enormous and beautifully tended gardens, a swimming pool, games room and plenty of space this was exactly what we had hoped for and more! Chateau La Douve is an historic building, so don't come here expecting air-conditioning - but the tranquility you get in return is completely priceless. There was more than enough consumer electronics in the form of flatscreen TVs and espresso machines to make up for the tranquility if that is what keeps you happy :) Add peacocks and exotic farm animals to the mix and you really have a fabulous getaway. The kitchen was small, but we managed perfectly with a little planning. The grill by the pool was fabulous. The balcony behind the castle has an incredibly scenic view of the pool and the village beyond. The owner, Rene was totally charming. We received lots of help from two locals who really helped to make this a memorable stay

Une semaine fort agréable au gîte Château de la Douve

Nous avons passé une semaine de Noël fort agréable au gîte Château de la Douve. La demeure est belle et impressionnante, les pièces sont de grande taille et suffisamment vastes, hormis la cuisine qui est trop petite par rapport à la taille du château et inadaptée par rapport au nombre d'occupants en groupe, faisant plus penser à une cuisine de maison familiale (seul bémol qui fait perdre une étoile), ce qui ne nous a pas empêché de bien en profiter. Le gîte était très bien chauffé, nous n'avons pas eu froid. Le parc est calme, la situation géographique est très bien avec les commerces à proximité et moins de 10 km pour les grandes surfaces. Le propriétaire est très sympathique, à l'écoute et réactif par rapport à nos demandes et a toujours su les satisfaire. Nous recommandons ce gîte.
