The Reagan family, one of Gatlinburg's most historic families, began building cabins around 1925. At the time, Otha Reagan worked stripping tanning bark in the Sugarlands area of what is now the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and his wife, Emma, was a weaver at Arrowmont. In 1923, Otha and Emma had saved enough money, $500 to be exact to purchase five acres of land on the Roaring Fork Creek where Brookside Resort is today. Just a few years later they began building small cabins and chicken coops on the property to rent to men who were in the area building the road from Newfound Gap to Clingmans Dome. These cabins were built with timbers from the Roaring Fork School House and Church, and some were built from log homes moved straight out of the National Park. Many of the Reagan family's ancestors were even born in these cabins!
In 1971, Gatlinburg Southern Building Code required the remodel of nearly all the buildings in the area to a Bavarian type of exterior, so the Reagan cabins were updated to conform. Not too long after that in 1980, all of the original cabins and chicken houses were moved to their present location in picturesque Emerts Cove by a local river hangout called the Flint Rock Swimming Hole. To make a few larger cabins to accommodate larger families, two of the original cabins were placed on each side of a concrete slab to form a bedroom and a bathroom, and the middle was built to form a living area. Don't worry, though, the cabins haven't lost any of their history rumor has it that old chicken feed bags from the cabins earliest years have been found in their attics! Today's owners are proud to bring a little piece of their family's Gatlinburg history to your Gatlinburg vacation!

The cabin was clean. It is a peaceful area by a stream. The property manager was very attentive. Nice bathroom with a big shower. It had a comfortable bed.
This cabin is a perfect retreat away from everything! As you pull into the driveway, the sound of the rushing river takes over and you feels miles away from reality. So peaceful and relaxing. We will definitely return to this little cabin. Perfect easy drive into either Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. A great getaway.
The cabin was cozy. The river was right behind the unit. It was really quiet in Pittman Center. The drive to Gatlinburg was not bad. There was a short cut over to Pigeon Forge and we drove it; about 20 minutes . We will definitely return to this property.
We had a great stay! The bed was so comfortable. It was clean and just enough room for my husband and I. We enjoyed peaceful evenings sitting at the fire pit and listening to the creek! Not far from Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. Especially if you know back cuts! We walked all around the area and it was a beautiful walk. Would book again. The only thing I would add is soap holders in the shower to hold your soap.
Unit was somewhat clean, spider webs in lamp shades, between window screens and window. Appliances worked well. The stream was at the back door and enjoyed sitting on back porch.
If you want to go into the Smokies you have to go through Gatlinburg, awful congestion. Stay in or around pigeon forge for faster access to park.
My husband and i stayed for our 52nd Wedding Anniversary. We loved hearing the water rushing in the Little Pigeon river! The covered bridge was a short walk that i could do even with a walker. Our dog enjoyed our stay too. The king sized bed was a bit bouncy for my arthitis, but still OK. The large shower was great. There were nice soaps & shampoo provided. The kitchen had good quality pans for cooking and everything we needed to make our steak dinner with baked potatoes! There were benches for our bags but no hooks, hangers or closet. The location was very peaceful! My husband enjoyed walking our dog on the quiet country roads. We are so glad that we found it!
We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. If you are outdoorsy then you will enjoy this place. We walked down to the bridge and fished. The water is beautiful. You could see straight down. We also took some family photos by the bridge. The Diamond renters were very friendly. If you are looking for outdoorsy vs luxury then you will enjoy this stay. The only negative I could even think would be to brighten up the place a bit with brighter lighting. Other than that everything worked well. Kitchen was fully stocked. We had fun!
Me & husband stayed here for his 30th birthday we’d never stayed in Pittman center before. It was really nice and secluded. We loved that we weren’t too far from town but weren’t directly in town. The room itself could be renovated a little but the view from the room was amazing! We went fishing & my husband caught his very first trout there! We went to the greenbrier store right across from the stop sign & got all of our fishing needs! Overall we loved the room and location! We would stay again! The covered bridge was beautiful! The communication with the manager was very simple they called me around 10 the day of arrival to inform the room was ready.. we weren’t supposed to check in till later in the afternoon so that was very nice!
Cabin was lacking. No dishwasher,no dresser. But bed was great. Bathroom was great. Backporch and rocking chairs were SPLENDID!!!!! RIVERwas within 50 ft. The sounds and sites were AMAZING. Pricing was fair until they started tacking on this fee and that fee and if you don't wash the dishes another fee. Seriously, wash dishes and no dishwasher. We enjoyed but we mis timed our trip and went when nothern folk were on spring break. I'll do better research next time.
Cabin was nice and loved the water running close by. I found some of the kitchen utensils were very cheap plastic.I would bring my own if we returned.Overall a nice place.
Loved the creek out back with the view of a covered bridge!!

Shady Brook
The price was pretty high for what you get. The lock was broke when we got there, maintenance came the next day to fix it, which was fine.
Housekeeping could do a better job of cleaning, The blinds and air conditioner were extremely dusty. There was a cigar band on the floor.
All that being daid the location was great. Directly behind the cabin was part of the river or what I would call a stream that had rushing water. Very peaceful to listen too. Several people were fishing and looked like they were catching.
It is a short distance to Gatlinburg and there were grocery stores and some restaurants right up the road from the cabin.

Not worth the money
The only thing we liked about the cabin was the proximity to the river. The bed was very uncomfortable, with a torn mattress pad which caused the sheets to come off every night. The shower had very poor water pressure. The cabin has a window unit, not central AC and NO ceiling fan. The cabin was dusty, with cobwebs and general ick. The rugs were old and looked like they hadn't been shampooed or vacuumed. Check in and out was easy, but for the money, this place wasn't very nice.
