Great, easy to find location. Nancy was a great communicator A wonderful option for us, as we were in the area for a wedding in Sharpsburg where overnight accommodations were a bit slim. Shepherdstown was a cute town with lots of cute local shops and places to eat. Would stay here again!
The cottage with parking provided an excellent location. Easy walk to town. The living area and kitchen had plenty of space and amenities. Cottage was very clean. Area was very quiet and the HVAC was also quiet. The host was very helpful. I would stay at this cottage again.
great location (under 10 minute walk to Shepherdstown main street)Cottage is private and located to the back of owner's property. Good parking for our 1 car. Clean and spacious cottage. Upper level has two large separate sleeping areas. It's ceiling has sloping sides that peak at the roof. We had no problem with the ceiling's lower sides. The one spacious bathroom with tub/shower is located on the main level.A Food Lion--and other businesses-- is a 10 minute drive from the cottage.
The cottage was very lovely. It was comfortable especially the queen bed upstairs. Yes, the ceiling is low upstairs but no worries as down the center we could easily stand up. There was also a twin bed upstairs in addition to the sofa bed we didn't use. The kitchen was fully equipped as well as the bathroom with fresh towels. Loved the privacy we had with having the entire cottage to ourselves. We would stay again.
Very nice and cozy property. Beautifully decorated. It had everything needed for a very nice stay. Cute courtyard. It was wonderful to walk into the historic area for dinner. I highly recommend this cute cottage.
Nancy made sure we had everything we needed. Communication was wonderful. Cottage was cozy and had everything we needed for our weekend stay. A great selection of tea for this non-coffee drinker was a plus! Walk to downtown shops was relaxing. Quiet neighborhood. Close to Antietam and Harper's Ferry. Enjoyed the area.
Everything went super smoothly. Nancy is an excellent communicator. It’s only a 10 minute walk to the main strip and that walk is through a beautiful neighborhood with friendly folks all around. 10/10 would stay again.
The home was the perfect size for my family of three and centrally located between a couple historic areas that we wanted to explore. The beds were very comfortable with several extra blankets and linens. We needed heat when we arrived, but we were able to switch to air conditioning when the weather warmed up. We needed to switch to air downstairs remote for the upstairs to cool off.The teapot, Keurig, and coffee pot were handy. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, tinsels, pots, and pans if you wished to cook. The kitchen had oil, salt, pepper, tea, and sugar. There were plenty of cleaning supplies and a first aid kit, too. My only suggestion would be to add additional seating in the living area. The home sleeps six, but there is only seating for three in the living room. Be prepared for low ceilings in the bedrooms, but they were not an issue for my family.
The cottage itself is adorable and very clean! We really enjoyed the space.A few things to note that weren’t mentioned in the listing: there is no television, there is an iron but no ironing board, and there is a rooster kept very close to the cottage. Unfortunately, the rooster began crowing around 4 a.m. each morning for several hours, which made it difficult to sleep—even with attempts to block out the noise.I shared this feedback with the owner, who let me know they plan to remove the rooster. Once that issue is resolved, this will easily be one of the best places we’ve stayed.
It is clear that the owners spent a lot of money fixing up the "cottage" to make it a rental. The mini-splits on both levels work very well. The downstairs is comfortable and well -designed, and the kitchen is functional. The owner communicated well throughout our stay. The description says that the "upstairs loft style has a short ceiling," but that wins the understatement of the year award. The upstairs is basically an attic that has been converted into "bedroom" space. The ceilings are absurdly low. They are A-frame ceilings with a small central row and angled sides. The ceiling in the area with the day bed is 5' 10" at its highest, central point, and the ceiling slopes at an angle downward from there. The walkway into the bedroom area was even lower. You have to bend down to walk through to the bedroom. The A-frame ceiling in the bedroom was lower than the outer room. My wife is 5'7", and she couldn't stand up in the bedroom. I couldn't sit on the side of the bed without hitting my head on the sloped part of the ceiling. To get up off the bed, you had to move to the middle and slide forward so as not to hit your head against the sloping ceiling. There is very little circulation to that corner bedroom, so it felt exactly like sleeping in an attic. This rental might work for a family with young kids (under 5 years of age), *if* the parents slept on the sleeper sofa downstairs and the kids slept in the converted attic. Otherwise, this does not work.
