"I find it funny that you are asking me to review my stay at your hotel when you canceled my reservation without letting me know. I was four hours away from home and had no place to stay and I had children with me. You claimed my card was declined but what really I think happened was you oversold your rooms. Everything was sold out in the area except for one hotel, which I was able to get a very nice room with the same credit card that you said was declined. Turns out my card was just fine! Your hotel is a complete dump and from the moment I walked in the door it reeked of incense. The rooms were very dirty and the beds were very uncomfortable. I only know this because my husband and mother-in-law had to check in the night before and spent one night there. They were very disappointed and disgusted with this place. I would not recommend you to anybody."

"Staff were friendly. The location was great, especially for the price. Location was literally right off the interstate and made getting to/from Kansas City and Lawrence easy. Room mostly clean, but smelled of smoke despite being non-smoking room. Also had debris/dirt on the floor. Amenities were overall good, but internet quality was not great--my phone and laptop regularly disconnected regardless of where in the room I was. Also very noisy through most hours of the night--people screaming or being loud outside/next door. I realize that's not the fault of the hotel, but definitely influenced my overall experience here. I would consider staying here again if I was by myself; however, this isn't a hotel I would recommend to others or would stay at if traveling with family."

"Don’t book this place, here is why: no curtains, no tea cups in rooms, everything is so low budget and they don’t even have hair conditioners. Manager on duty is completely useless! We had an ape size disturbance in the room above us - could not sleep the whole night! Took them forever to resolve the problem- all the people around that room were affected. The manager failed to accommodate our request to transfer us to the room at the top floor for the 2nd night stay. Overall - horrible worst experience of my life."

"We had an INCREDIBLE time!! We knew nothing about Basswood prior to arriving. The staff was amazing, Laura took care of us with a very specific scenario we hadn't anticipated and we are so grateful for her! Our cabin was awesome. The playgrounds were perfect for the kids. The front office / general store had so many cool things for souvenirs and to eat. The pizza was SO GOOD!! The main thing we didn't know about was the activity packed weekend they put together for the families. Scavenger hunt, movie night all day slip and slide water bounce castles, tie dying, snow cones and a water gun fight wagon ride. The staff genuinely loves seeing all the kids have fun and creates such a family friendly environment. 10/10 stay. Absolutely coming back."
