The staff were very efficient and very friendly. If you needed anything extra, they were happy to help. We didn’t feel that the breakfast was value for money, the quality wasn’t brilliant. The tea bags were a bit weak! The showers weren’t great and the drainage was slow so I felt like I was standing in a puddle. The loo paper wasn’t very good quality either and I expected a more premium ply. The shower gel provided was okay but the shampoo/conditioner left my hair dry and tangled and not conditioned at all. My pillows were very hard but once I asked for them to be changed, they were better. The duvets were synthetic and we would’ve preferred that they weren’t. I must stress how immaculately well cleaned everywhere was. I thought 19:30 was a bit early to leave reception unmanned though. The surroundings were beautiful and very peaceful which was welcome but the WiFi needs improving. In summary, this hotel would appeal to anybody SAGA age or over.
Rose in Vale is set in a beautiful and tranquil location, ideal for a relaxing stay. The staff were warm, welcoming and helpful. The hotel has a fascinating history, with information available throughout the property.
We booked two rooms for three nights in August. The John Opie Suite was spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated. The bed was very comfortable, and the shower was powerful and refreshing. The superior single room was also a generous size with a nice bathroom, although the hairdryer was not working during our stay.
There were a few aspects that could be improved. The rooms did not have a mini fridge, and the UHT milk provided was unpleasant in taste. The tea tray was minimal, with no herbal or fruit tea options available. Although fans were provided, the rooms felt slightly stuffy at times.
Breakfast was delicious and freshly prepared, although the variety was limited. The fruit selection was quite basic and did not appear especially fresh. During the summer season, it would have been nice to see options such as berries, melon, or pineapple. Breakfast is served only between 8:30 and 9:30 in the morning, which can be restrictive for guests with early plans.
There was plenty of parking available; however, the entrance and exit are quite narrow,
Overall, Rose in Vale is a lovely hotel that offers quality accommodation. It is worth noting that the hotel seemed very quiet during our visit, which was surprising given that it was peak season.
We had an excellent stay at the hotel. The staff were helpful and went out of their way to accommodate our nervous dog. Setting was relaxed and peaceful, staff helpful and food great. We will be be back
I fancied an impromptu trip to Cornwall and found this brilliant little hotel
The small family staff team were incredibly welcoming and lovely, and went out of their way to help you with any questions
The restaurant provided excellent quality service and food in a convivial atmosphere
I would highly recommend this hotel and will be delighted to stay there again in the future
The service in this hotel is second to none. We felt welcomed from the beginning and it was not only at reception. The same service was found throughout the hotel (including the restaurant and the bar). We were very impressed with their facilities and the way the staff went out of their way to satisfy our needs.
The only issue that we found is that the charge for the dog should be made clear from the first day. But this is just a detail.
This is a lovely hotel in a beautifully, quiet and peaceful setting. The hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. With a little more attention to detail this hotel could be outstanding. Eg individual complimentary toiletries, restaurant staff training, music in bar area for ambience etc. These are tiny details as we had a wonderful stay at this hotel. So convenient for getting about the area too. Would definitely stay again.
A wonderful place to find. Tucked away from all things busy. Lovely grounds, good car parking, friendly reception staff and excellent restaurant service. Dinner was good quality and sensible portions.
Trevligt hotell, mycket avskiljt och tyst i en dal. Bra lågmäld restaurang. Mycket fräscha rum. Stor trädgård. Pub på gångavstånd.

This hotel is a little dated. It felt like it was back in the eighties. Not a very warm welcome and the dining experience was just ok. On the night we dined in the restaurant there was only 5 other tables a total of 12 people. The service was very slow and we witness two people sending their meals back due to it not being cooked properly. I felt this hotel lacked soul, a big old house with no warmth.
A warm welcome from friendly, knowledgeable staff. The room we booked had everything we needed with a nice en-suite & lounge area. The hotel has plenty of space inside and out with well kept grounds.
Please, please try the restaurant, the meals from the highly trained resident chef Tom Bennetts during our stay was amazing, he uses local sourced produce and is a local lad.
The hotel is perfectly located for exploring the county of Cornwall, the north coast is just 5-10 minutes drive and the south coast is 30-40 minutes. With Lands End just 50 minutes drive. Oh don't forget to walk just 5 minutes up the lane to the village pub!
A peaceful, super quiet getaway!
