Awesome house and location, but issues with the pool, elevator, TVs, and cleaning supplies!The good: The plantation community is super cool. It’s gated and has a totally different vibe (way more vegetation and privacy) than the rest of the island. The house was spacious (5 adults, 6 kids), had a great layout (great communal space), and was a super short walk to the beach or the bay. The beach was awesome! No one within 50 yards of our camp, and a great spot for small kids. TONS of sea shells and dolphins.The bad: We were near the end of the plantation, and a solid 15m from the DT of SGI. The pool heater did not work our entire stay, and the community pool wasn’t heated either. The elevator was broken our first 4 days. Several TVs didn’t work or were without remotes. We didn’t have a vacuum or broom when we arrived. The grill was pretty gnarly, which we cleaned ourselves. Had to chase updates from the host.Overall, it could have been a really great spot if everything worked as advertised, and if we had proactive and transparent communication from the host. We were led to believe the pool heater would be fixed before our arrival, and then every update pushed out the timeline from that point on. And we were not told about the elevator issues until our arrival day, which only happened because I called the host about the pool.Key VRBO learning: The second you learn of an issue with your rental, call VRBO. They’ll only help before or during your stay!
