I went to Caneel Bay with my adult son for a meet-up mini vacation. We stayed for 4 days and swam every day, four times each day . There are seven named beaches...they were never crowded. All the guests at the time of our stay were friendly and sensitive to the privacy of the other guests. Wild donkeys roam the vast property, much to our amusement. The landscaping is beautiful. There are also fawns and adult deer. In the clear water, we saw sea turtles and stingrays, and colorful small fish. Overall a great trip. Be sure to buy the breakfast package! It is lavish and varied. A special thank you to the front office manager, Vernesta Eugene, who extended every courtesy to us during our visit. Bring your sunscreen!
Great hotel, close to the beach. Great activities for kids. Almost all water activities are free. No TV. There are deer and donkeys roaming freely. Overall a fun stay.
My husband and I went for our Anniversary and my 50th. Caneel Bay was above and beyond our expectations. We had an ocean view room that was beautiful. Not only does it have 7 pristine private beaches -- it feels like you are the only ones there -- but the staff are wonderful and so kind. It was truly paradise.
We stayed in a beautiful room -number 26 which had gorgeous view. The restaurants associated with the hotel were absolutely fabulous. The hotel staff was kind and very attentive. I fell in love with all the donkeys that roam the property. Absolutely wonderful stay- this coming from someone who travels....... A LOT!
I love Caneel and have come 4 times. Rooms are lovely, staff is great but it's mostly about the beaches and grounds. Perfect water and different wave experiences and great snorkeling
Second time staying. Everything was just as good as before, but stayed in a beach room thus time which was fantastic. Great staff and facilities.

Liked: Staff & service, room comfort
Disliked: Cleanliness
We were unhappy we were told we would be on Scott Beach (this was our 3rd stay) only to arrive to be on a sub par beach covered in seaweed. Our mini fridhe had hair in it and out room was not clean enough.
Understated luxury at its best. Caneel Bay hasn't changed much in sixty years ( I went there a lot as a child) and that is a good thing. World class beaches, terrific, friendly staff, large comfortable rooms and a gorgeous setting. For those wanting the vibe of a friendly beach club (all beach amenities and activities are included in the room price), instead of the big corporate resort experience (with resort fees, cabana and equipment rental fees, endless nickel and dining, loud music blasting everywhere, etc.), but with all of the comforts, Caneel Bay should be on your short list. Truly fantastic.
The hotel and staff was wonderful. The beach is amazing, very private and fully equipped with everything you need, snorkeling gear, kayaks. Everytime we went out we would see sea turtles, stingrays, squid, We even seen a nursing shark once. The water is so clear and beautiful. This was our first time staying and we will definitely be back.
Incredible property. We had a beachfront room and it's totally worth it. Service was impeccable. Food was great. Zozos is amazing! Will definitely return!!!
We've stayed in many places in St John, but this time we wanted to really celebrate and try out "the nicest place on the island." It was wonderful. It didn't feel like we were tousands of people on some crammed resort; it felt as though we were the only people there. Somehow, the way they've set it up, it's very personal and intimate. We loved every moment. The beaches were beautiful, snorkeling was amazing, food was delicious (especially breakfast and Zozo's)... I'd highly recommend it. :)
Fabulous room right on the beach. Excellent staff and facility. Huge well maintained property. Great restaurant ZoZo's. Enormous buffet breakfast. 7-8 well maintained beaches. Lots of water sports equipment.
An outstanding place to begin your St John experie
St John was all I had hoped it would be.It was actually that and more. The beauty, the kindness of the people the unique mix of history and culture will be calling us back for a very long time.
