"This is an exceptional property and one of our absolute favorite rental homes ever. The house was perfect for our extended family of six, with an active child and teenager. The back garden is truly unique and was the highlight of our stay -- it has multiple areas and levels for reading, sitting, and playing. We brought badminton rackets and birdies, which worked well. The landscaping is lovely and was in full bloom for our late May visit. We loved visiting the hosts' flock of chickens, petting their two cats who wander outside, and then walking up the short steep hill to sit at the bench and overlook idyllic views of Slad Valley with its peaceful fields of sheep, cows, and horses. The kitchen is gorgeous and has everything you need to make meals. The bedrooms and bathrooms are comfortable and spotless, and the house is beautifully decorated with thoughtful touches everywhere. The hosts are so friendly and generous - we loved Chris's delicious homemade flapjacks, the fresh eggs, and the kind provisions of milk, butter, orange juice, prosecco, and other treats. They even lent us camping chairs and an umbrella one day so that we could go to the Cotswold Park and Beach during the record-breaking heat wave! We highly recommend this property and would absolutely stay here again."

Luxury family friendly holiday cottage in the heart of the Cotswolds - Church Mews

"We stayed for a week just before the heatwave and actually it was quite cold and wet, but this place, despite having very high ceilings was actually very cosy and warm. There are things to point out, which the owners already have, in that the bedrooms are snug and certainly the mezzanine level on the far side of the bed is problematic due to the roof, but we felt that both bedrooms felt airy enough. The downstairs bedroom does have a window to the side of the front door and the upstairs bedroom has a skylight, and because of the glass half-wall to the kitchen area feels very light and airy. The bed were very comfy too. Very good sized shower and it was great to have the second toilet too. The parking is right outside, so couldn't be more convenient, there are a few steps up to the front door area. Most of the property is on the one level including the downstairs bedroom, but if you have mobility issues, you might not find the mezzanine bedroom too easy to get too, but you have the downstairs option, so is certainly manageable. We felt Painswick itself was fabulous, enough very good places to eat within a few minutes walk. We found going to the left as you came out of the property down the steps, and through the passageway into the church grounds was always the best way to go. There is a great convenience store that basically has everything you might need. There is obviously lots to drive to in the surrounding area too, including a great antiques centre just down the road with yet again a fab place to eat, although it's only open Thurs-Mon. We felt we would certainly stay here again and it was excellent value for money."

"We booked this accommodation while walking the Cotswold Way. Downstairs space was good and we were able to combine a couple of tables to sit 8 of us together. Upstairs all rooms had views out the back. A little more furniture in the main bedroom would be good. We had a couple of issues but these were responded to and satisfactorily resolved within a couple of days."

"We rented Locks Cottage and it exceeded all our expectations. The house itself was absolutely beautiful – full of character, very well maintained, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The views were stunning and truly captured the charm of the Cotswolds countryside, making it a joy to wake up each morning and simply take in the surroundings. The cottage felt peaceful and welcoming, the perfect place to relax and slow down, whether enjoying breakfast with a view or spending quiet evenings indoors. We had a brilliant time from start to finish and felt at home straight away. It was one of those stays that you wish could last longer. We would highly recommend this cottage and would happily return in the future."

"Property as advertised, clean, quiet, well furnished. Cotswolds location meant it felt less value for the cost compared to say Devon or Dorset. Upstairs bedroom had several compromises as it's up steep low headroom stairs, open to the downstairs and bedside light position is fixed too near to the headboard. I checked with the agency about bringing a stair gate as there was no clear picture of the stairs and was told one not provided but yes I could bring my own, which was correct except there is no way to secure a gate to the stairs. Also, there were landscaping works ongoing which we were not informed about. The workmen were extremely polite and accommodating but we had to move some in work items about to make the garden dog safe, on occasion we had to negotiate vehicle access and several tipper trucks of gravel were delivered which covered our cars in dust. Nothing particularly intrusive but we should have been told of the works beforehand."
