Private River Frontage!!! Beautiful Cabin with Amazing views! Available now!!

The Walker Ford Cabin sits on two acres right on the banks of the upper Meramec River. Enjoy panoramic views of the river and the bottom hay fields. Bring chairs and sit next to the river, take a swim, dip a worm or just watch the turtles sun on the logs. Relax with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine watching for the occasional bald Eagle to soar up the river. The cabin has been newly renovated and is ready for guests. There is a beautiful rock fireplace, kitchenette, a queen size bed, queen pull out sofa and a dining table in the main cabin. The back sitting area has beautiful river views along with a twin sleeper sofa. The only thing you need when you come to our cabin is food, charcoal (if needed) and toiletries. The kitchen is fully stocked with what you may need to cook a meal and the linens and towels are also provided. There are several wineries and a canoe/raft outfitter within a mile away or bring your own canoe or kayak and float from our local access Birds Nest right down to your cabin. Shuttle service available...$35 local access. Inquire for more details. There is a BBQ grill and washers game for your use.
If you are wanting to add more guests to your party we have options. There is tent camping available and a full electric rv hookup with water for any family member or friends wanting to stay....message for details.

Very relaxing getaway

This property is perfect for a quiet , peaceful, stress free getaway. The location on the river bank is fantastic, the cabin itself was super clean and the overall design and decor were wonderful.

Family Getaway

This was the perfect place for our family get away. The cabin was perfect and even my 14 year old enjoyed the stay enough to abide by the no phone rule 😊. We definitely will stay again in the future.

Perfect River Cabin

We’ve enjoyed each time we’ve stayed here. Perfect for us and close to the river. It has all you need for time away. There is good fishing right outside the door. Love it.

Beautiful setting and perfect river access. Only complaint was the beds ... Two pullout couches were very uncomfortable (as most normally are) but reg. bed was fine! Overall was a nice little get away!

Relaxing weekend

Very cozy little cabin right by the meramec river. We loved the sunset and the fact we still had cellular and internet service in such a remote area. The cabin was small but still had all the amenities we needed. Would definitely stay again.

Picture perfect!

Me and my friend absolutely loved this cabin! It was so cute and quaint, off to the side of the property, down by the river. The owner, Susan was so kind and responsive and had provided so many amenities. I definitely recommend this for friends or couples wanting a relaxing getaway!

This was our second stay at this cabin. We loved it so much last year that we decided to take the 1000-mile drive to stay here again this summer. The cabin was perfect for our needs--rustic but with all the creature comforts, pet-friendly but clean and meticulously maintained, with a great yard and easy river access, secluded but close to town. Our dog absolutely loved swimming in the river! After two weeks at virtually any vacation rental, we're usually bouncing off the walls to get back home. Not this time. We would have gladly stayed longer, and we'd certainly love to rent this property again. It was that good. And the host certainly made us feel welcome with her great communication whenever we had any questions.

Great stay!

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights from 6/22-25. Completely secluded, country property right on the river. Host was very responsive the 1 time we had a question. We didn't do any kayaking or floating, but if you did you would be able to get out right at the property. Great and relaxing stay!

Great St. Louis getaway...

It is a great place to unwind and enjoy the river, the silence, the birds, and the blue Herons! Great outdoor fireplace and outdoor stove for all our needs. The house had everything we needed and more! Great place, and only saw 2 people in a kayak on 1 of the days. Great spot for fishing and putting in your kayaks or canoe.

We would definitely stay here again. Everything was as described in the description of the property. It was spotlessly clean. The location on the river is beautiful and private. Steelville is a nice little town with a fabulous butcher shop on the main street which should not be missed. Highly recommend!

Summer Reset

We enjoyed this sweet cabin by the river for three nights. it was so clean and had all the amenities we needed. We were able to fish along the river just a short walk away and the host was very accommodating with shuttle rides so we could float the river in our kayaks. We enjoyed the town of Steelville and went into Cuba as well. We played washers in the lawn, made most meals at the cabin and didn't want to leave. It was great!

Peaceful, secluded and therapeutic

My husband and I were looking for a cabin for a weekend getaway, ideally one that was pet friendly and within a few hours driving distance from Kansas City -- Walker Ford Cabin was just what we had in mind. This 1930s built cabin is cozy and includes most all the comforts of home. Located at the end of a private drive, we encountered only one other vehicle during our entire visit. This property sits on the Meramec River. During our stay we enjoyed scenic views of the river, saw turtles bathing in the afternoon sun, and heard frogs and whippoorwills as daylight turned to nightfall. During the day we did some bird watching and tried our luck at fishing as well. Since we brought our two dogs we were unable to take in some of the local attractions. This cabin includes all the necessary amenities of home, so all one needs are clothes, toiletries and food/drink. Selfishly, we'd prefer to keep this place a secret, all to ourselves, but the Walker Ford Cabin and property should be enjoyed by as many people as is possible - it's that nice. We highly recommend. We are already taking about a return visit in the Fall. Thanks to our host, Susan Burch, for an amazing experience.

Adorable cabin with great views!

We have stayed tons of places and this was one of the nicest places we have found. The cabin was cute and clean. The access to water was way better than we expected, it’s actually an old boat ramp. We took our chairs down and sat on the ramp, very quite and beautiful!
