"The room was as advertised, however would have been better with a Queen sized bed instead of a Double bed. The view was wonderful and the room was spacious. The breakfast was not the best and the pastries were hard (i.e. Not soft and fresh). The menu for dinner was not well advertised nor could be easily found without having to go downstairs to the restaurant, which was inconvenient."

"This hotel is a little oasis outside of Hermanus. The garden is beautiful full of art and flowers. We really enjoyed eating at the restaurant for the two evenings we were there. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Bed was super comfortable and the room spacious. Great view of the sea too."

"All round excellence, from the moment we were greeted by the host and staff, till our departure. A beautiful well run Guest House settled on a hillside with a wonderful view over looking Gordon’s Bay and the Strand. "

"I stayed here for 7 nights and paid for an AC room, but the AC was not working from the second night. The room was extremely hot and suffocating, and the fan was ineffective. We could not sleep properly for multiple nights. What is unacceptable is that this was never informed to us in advance. Instead of taking responsibility or offering any compensation or solution, the host and his wife tried to convince us that AC was not required. After we complained, their behavior became rude and unfriendly, which made us feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. If you are charging for an AC room, you must provide it or compensate the guest. Guests are paying for comfort, not to adjust and suffer. Very disappointing experience. Lack of transparency, poor customer service, and no accountability. I would not recommend this place. What is most unacceptable is that they never informed us in advance about the AC problem. If you are charging for an AC room, you must provide that facility or inform guests beforehand and adjust the price accordingly. Guests pay for comfort and honesty, not to adjust and suffer in silence. Overall, the property has potential, but the lack of transparency, poor handling of the situation, and unfriendly behavior after the complaint made our experience very disappointing. I would not recommend this place to anyone who expects professional service and basic comfort. "

"Carin and her husband and the rest of the staff at Oude schuur guesthouse were amazingly friendly and accommodating. They helped with getting us a car rental and made some excellent suggestions for dinner in the area. The breakfasts were delicious and fresh, the room was spotless with daily housekeeping. We would recommend this place to anyone wishing to visit the Hermanus area. The mountain views from our terrace were spectacular as well. Be sure to book several nights, because you won’t want to leave. We arrived as guests and left as friends."
