The owner who was very unpleasant and bossy underneath his politeness created a feeling of discomfort. The breakfast was delicious and grounds beautiful but his attitude unfortunately made us uncomfortable enough to not recommend this place.
hideaway is an amazing oasis away from home. We had two stays there recently and each one lived up to our expectations. Stephen & Jackie are fantastic hosts and make you feel very welcome. The rooms are five star not to mention the breakfast which is excellent. would highly recommend the Hideaway to anyone visiting the area.
This b & b is not a b&b in the true sense coz the rooms are in a seperate building & are huge!
Each is more beautiful than the next & decorated to 5 star+ std!!
Hosts are terrific soo helpful.
Gardens are huge & beautiful with 150 varieties of roses!
Breakfast is really good & outdoors most of the time
Fabulous Queen Elizabeth Suite furnished to the highest quality in every way. Excellent bathroom as well, wet room style, with high quality accessories. Nice touch with complimentary port and wine and fresh milk for tea and coffee. Exceptional continental breakfast, with options for fully cooked if you wish, served on the verandah by the pool
Very comfortable with top quality bedding and breakfast catering for our daughters allergies. extremely friendly and helpful hosts very knowledgeable about the area. Wonderful spa products for our use in the bathroom and a beautiful natural pool and garden. A quiet street but central, surrounded by history.
The owners are very welcoming, enthusiastic and informative about the town and area and the welcome drink was well received. The rooms here are large, well equipped and ours had a beautiful bathroom. The gardens and Eco pool are delightful and worth the stay alone. A good breakfast in the lounge overlooking the pool was enjoyable. Would recommend as a stop off along the garden route or just off Route 62.
What a amazing find; the room was luxurious and of such high quality. The rooms overlook a well manicured garden and breakfast is taken overlooking an eco pool - fantastic! !
From the moment we arrived Stephen and Jackie looked after our every need, providing lots of information about the area, our room was spacious, comfortable and came with many added extras...free mini bar, water, insect spray...just a few examples. Breakfasts served by the Eco pool were wonderful. Ideas for days out were pre prepared with printouts of details of routes and stop offs, as well as the loan of local maps. Beautiful gardens. Fantastic place to stay.
We had a wonderful, albeit too short, visit. The Hideaway grounds are gorgeous and this small B & B has everything you could possibly want. It deserves every one of it's 5 stars. Breakfast was just incredible. The hosts try hard to think of every consideration, even to the point of driving out of town to where they'd suggested a hike to leave a note to tell us that we'd forgotten our IPod....far beyond the responsibility of any host in my opinion! I'd stay there again in a heart beat
This is not an easy place to rate as there is a big gap between the facilities and the service.
It is a very cute place, with striking attention to detail which goes to Stephen and Jacqui's credit. Every room has everything you could possibly wish for, including a well stocked minibar, well appointed bathroom, some books, magazines, and even some first aid kit! The house is in a beautiful garden which grows gorgeous roses that you will see in the room and throughout the house.
All this could only be achieved under Stephen's watchful eye clearly but his manner, as many reviews suggest on all travel websites, isn't the most easy-going or welcoming. We were absolutely sure of his good intentions and aim to provide the best information, but it was done in a very forceful manner that could have made it tiring at times. When we arrived, there was no warm welcome - we first got told off for arriving late (9pm - even though we sent an email), then we got told off for parking the car on the road, then for checking in only for one night. When we got to the room we were given an excessively detailed overview of the room (we do know how to open the fridge, what slippers look like and how to use a shower). We were also told to make sure we dry all the area around the shower if we do happen to splash some water around.... We took it with a sense of humour as we understood it was all done out of care and attention to detail but it can be tiresome to be always lectured as a guest.
Arriving on a wet night we received a warm welcome.
Rooms unique and very clean.
Our hosts advice aon eating locally and activities first rate.
Breakfast is something special with locally sourced items and home baking!
