The view was incredible! I could spend four days by the pool. It was great to have the shuttle (4x4) to the beach. It is not a swimming beach at all, but it is great for watching the waves and reading a book. Drinks were delicious, though the good was hit or miss. (The tuna tartare was incredible; the seafood platter was a sad disappointment.) The staff were very kind and helpful and there was yoga on the weekends with a transcendent view.

Great place to stay

Beautiful setting and spectacular view from our room. The pool is beautiful! The beach is nice, but access to the water is a bit challenging. The service in the restaurant is a bit slow, but not a huge deal, considering the view. All of the food was excellent, as were the cocktails

It offers spectacular views, good food, and polite customer service. It also has a good spa offering and an amazing yoga spot. You can see a lot of wild animals. The infinity pool is amazing and it offers an incredible view.

This is one of Costa Rica’s original luxury hotels and a member of the Small, Distinctive Hotels family. Like a castle perched high on a mountain top overlooking Herradura and Javi - Sunsets and dining here are some of the best in Costa Rica. Come here for the views and history, and dining!

Legendary views!

It is one of the most beautiful and romantic spots in Costa Rica. The stunning views are legendary. But there is a lot of stairs and incline, so be prepared. But don’t miss this beautiful place.

Even though it was completely booked, it felt the opposite. Private, secluded and friendly, not to mention breathtakingly beautiful at every turn, we felt like we were one of only a few there. The views are absolutely breathtaking, easily the standout feature of the property. Whether you’re overlooking the ocean at sunset or walking through the grounds, the scenery is stunning. The property itself is beautifully maintained, with lush landscaping that really adds to the overall experience. Most of the staff around the hotel were warm, welcoming, and very helpful, which made navigating the property and enjoying the amenities easy. That said, the dining experience fell short. The restaurant staff were not as friendly, and the service felt subpar compared to the rest of the hotel. The menu lacked variety, and it felt like there were very limited options—almost like you were stuck eating the same meals repeatedly. Unfortunately, the food itself didn’t stand out either. Because the hotel is quite secluded, you don’t have many alternatives unless you’re willing to travel about 30 minutes into town, which can be inconvenient if you’re relying on the on-site dining. On a positive note, the private beach was a nice feature and a great place to relax and unwind. Overall, Villa Caletas offers incredible views and a beautiful, peaceful setting, but improvements to the restaurant experience and menu variety would make a big difference.

A Perfect Hotel

a this is always a perfect place. The rooms are palatial. Everything is spotlessly clean. If a hotel can be perfect this one is. Spa services are great. Food is great. Location is beyond compare. The views are breathtaking. Staff is great. its worth every penny.

Just stayed one night. We have been there in the past to enjoy the view and lunch with friends . First time overnight. Room wasn’t comfortable old furnishings and not even close to getting your money’s worth. I guess it is all about the View.

The Villa Caletes is one of my favorite places. The setting and views are amazing. The hotel is exquisite- with architecture matching some of the most luxury inns in the world. It does not disappoint in this regards. I was somewhat disappointed with the bed this time. I could feel and hear the springs. I will be back for the view but might stay elsewhere.

The property itself is breathtaking. The staff is top notch! Unfortunately the original hiking trail was closed due to the country’s struggle to get back to normal after the pandemic. Transportation into town is costly so it’s best to rent a vehicle if you can. Property not recommended for small children.
