"The hotel is sufficient for what it is, nothing fancy, but conveniently located. Breakfast is very simple. No lotion in the room. The A/C was not strong at all; the room was too warm even though it was 7 degrees Celsius outside; we had to open the window to cool the room but the train station was constantly making loud noise, so the window had to be closed at night."

"They, the staff, exceeded my expectations . Courteous, helpful, kind and pleasant are words that I would use to describe them. Everyone greets you with a bow and civility, right down to the hardest workers in the hotel. For that, i will surely come back. My stay at the Prince Hotel East was worth every yen and then some. I originally was suppose to stay at the Sunvalley Hotel, in Shiga Kogen. I lost my reservation there due to payment issues. I was hesitant about coming to the Prince Hotel. It was my first time. The room i stayed in was probably one of the best i have seen for the price. The next time I am in Shiga Kogen, i am staying at the Prince Hotel East, without a doubt."

"Its more a backpacks accommodation then a Hotel. The food provided in the morning was a joke at best. A doggy bag with bread buns that you have to heat you your self. Thats it. Rooms are old and the bathroom smells like s&@$. The two young staff were helpful and speck english. The public bath was good as well. The place needs to be refurbished into the 20th century. Sorry to say that. We read some comments by other explaining that it was traditional and all that but its very old and dated. Food sucked. "

"The hotel needs renovating. I stayed there 3 nights, but the room wasn’t cleaned once. The facility was just too run down. Everything is just too old. The escalator didn’t work. But none is working on it. I think it has been like that for years. Great location"

"Small but very equipped and clean room. Nice restaurant with nice views of the city and mountains. Great breakfast. Closed to the train station. Great stay!"
