"The Dupont is a fancy hotel, far fancier than I'm used to but some things were wanting. The room itself was fine, well stocked mini bar and mini fridge available on request with ice was provided in the room. Little things seemed off to me - sockets next to the bed felt a little loose and the TV was off centre from the bed and pointed at the sole chair in the room, fine if travelling alone - less so if a couple, it was also unable to tilt towards the bed which seems where most people would watch TV from. But what do I know? The bathroom area was well stocked with toiletries and dressing gowns but the grouting of the shower floor was a bit manky. The view from the room (facing internally) was depressing, could at least try to tart up the AC intake a bit.. Staff were helpful and doormen were very friendly. My colleague had no issue with Valet and was very happy with their service. I used the hotel bar and restaurant once each. Breakfast service felt very slow despite ordering patries only and explaining we were on a tight schedule. Bar - good drinks variety, staff were quite good fun but our party of 8 could not be provided with individual checks - perhaps this is more of a quirk to the US than the Dupont itself. Surrounding area - great for diplomatic circle and Metro is very close for wider travel. Nice hotel - certainly, but it could be better."

"They had not "turned on central air for the season" yet as it was supposed to be cold the week after we were there. However, it was 80 degrees during our time there. The only way we knew this was by overhearing it being told to another guest in the lobby. Nothing was said to us upon check in. Apparently, their solution was a small fan they could provide, or we could open our windows. It was hot, and the open windows let in a ton of street noise at night. Someone outside was smoking, and that also came into our room. Poor solution. We won't stay again. "

"This is not a hotel. It's a self-service, motel-style building. There is no on-site staff, and a contact number for someone at their Chicago location is posted on the front door. To enter the building, you need to remember a passcode. To access your room, you'll need another passcode. My sink had only a trickle of water, and I used the shower to wash my face or brush my teeth. My room looked like a dungeon and was below ground level, with a view of the stairs. It was freezing cold, with no central heat or air—just an old AC unit. The carpet was filthy, and the room had peeling paint. My room was next to a trash storage area. The hallway and walls were peeling, with holes and stains everywhere. This was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. On my first night, at 3 AM, the building alarm went off for 45 minutes. A few other unfortunate guests were in the hallway trying to disarm it since there is NO STAFF on premises. We called the number for the staff person working in Chicago, and he finally gave us the code so I could disarm the alarm. AVOID."

"My favorite hotel in DC. Staff is exceptional, Tina, Baby, Danny, Reyna and the housekeeping staff make every visit wonderful. The restaurant and the coffee shop are top notch. Best value and experience in DC!"

"The property was great! The hotel staff were great, and the room was excellent. Everything was clean and comfortable. The food in Via Sophia was great, and the atmosphere in there was so nice (other than the supervisor, he was pretty off-putting). I would definitely stay here again."
