great ryokan collected my luggage from the friendly tourists information office while I toured the town. receptionist spoke good English
great kaseki dinner and breakfast. Ryokan took me and my luggage to the station. quiet and peaceful sleep
The location is a bit off-track, but the area is nice and worth a detour if you have a car.
The building itself is ordinary but the room is very spacious and comfortable, with some view to the mountains and valley, and some to the next buildings.
The onsen is nice though not particular.
Service is very attentive and helpful.
But by far the best part was the dinner (and breakfast), which was Michelin-star level, multi-course beautiful and tasty dishes.
we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff is friendly and helpful, their hospitality and quality and thoughtfulness preparing our meals appreciated. Clean facilities.
Nice people, their services are great and helpful. Room is tidy but equipments are a bit old. The onsen is never crowded, and the left side of the onsen provide a much better view than the right side. There's nowhere that you can find food after 10pm unless you've a car to drive out. Overall speaking, it's a nice choice for an overnight get-away stay.
This ryokan was without a doubt one of the absolute highlights of the trip to Japan that I just took with my son. To start, the mountain town setting is charming and we got in a secluded hike to the top of a mountain where we saw not a single sole all afternoon - a nice change after Tokyo! Then the Ryokan itself is beautiful and the Japanese style rooms are spacious and authentic. The onsen bath at the ryokan is also wonderful and refreshing, although I admit a bit intimidating for a not-so-skinny American to get naked with a room full of chattering Japanese women - LOL. But the best part of our stay here was the incredible hospitality shown by Wanchen and her husband Harunosuke combined with the unbelievable, multi-course, gourmet Japanese dinners and breakfasts. Wow! Those alone were probably worth the price of our stay, but combined with the service, the accommodation, the included bathhouse and the setting Uematsuya Ryokan was an incredible value. I plan to come back in a few years with my husband.
